this website is so great. you can change the city and it will show you all the local events for the month. there's always great fun stuff for the kids. i always use this to plan out all my events for the weekend. http://www.aroundtownkidsplano.com/html/aboutus.htm
lowes and home depot always has activities for the kids to do we went last weekend and it was fun my son who is 3 was hammering away and made a semi- truck. it was fun and free. you get the supplies and an apron and patch to take home. the school supply stores have activites as well not sure if it is free but i think is is.
I take my kids out on "Adventure Sundays" and we explore different things around the city. My boys are 5 & 6 and they love some of these places.
Going downtown, near DMA & Tramell Crow Center. they love walking around and looking at all the tall buildings. There are lots of fountains and statues in the area and kids love it. The Nasher Sculpture center is great too (not free) but i think they do free Sat's once a month, sponsored by Target. They will be amazed by so many things down there.
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano off Parker is great to walk around and explore.
Texas Sculpture Garden in Frisco - outdoor park is free
Trolley on McKinney - I think its free.
There's lots to explore in Dallas. You can check guidelive.com and there's a listing of lots to do. Have fun!
Go to www.aroundthetownkids.com, it's an awesome website and they tell you all kinds of ideas.
I have recently heard Lynda Morley speak and she has a book titled "Outings and Adventures Everywhere!". She tells about age appropriate outings some of which are free. She even offers suggestions of things to show them or ask them to make even a simple trip somewhere fun and a learning experience. Good luck!
You can go to places with an indoor playground, like McDonalds, Chick-Fil-A or the mall.
I know it is windy and cooler, but you could go to the park and find a pond with ducks and feed the ducks. You could take bread and feed them. Benbrook Park has a nice playground and pond to feed the ducks. Trinity Park in Fort Worth has a nice playground and then there is also a pond to feed the ducks.
Ridgmar Mall has a great indoor playground, so does Hulen Mall.
The library would be neat, especially downtown Fort Worth main library. They have computers for the kids to get on and play games. You can read books to the kids, they have puzzles and a small train they can play on.
Story Hours, I'm not sure if any of the bookstores do them today. Barnes and Noble has a neat kid area. They have a train and toys for the kids. I know they have story hours, however I think they are during the week, I'm not sure. You may have to call or look online.
I know you were looking for something yesterday but, for future reference check out Dallas Child. I get an e-mail from them every weekend listing fun stuff to do with the kids and there is a link for free activities.
check the libraries. often have free events.
Hi!! It looks like you have recieved a lot of great ideas. Mine are pretty much the same idea. I am not sure what area you live in, but there are plenty of parks, many with ponds to feed ducks or trails to walk on. The nature preserve in plano is fun because you can take hikes, slowly of course to see and touch every rock and leaf (if your son is anything like mine). If it is too cold outside for you then Barnes and Noble bookstores are fabulous because they most of them have the train tables for the kids to play. Play areas at the mall are great, avoid frisco it will be way too crowded!! That one place in frisco, I think someone else mentioned it it, across the street from the mall on parkwood. it has a stream and the bronzed horses and what-not with sayings on the sidewalk. good luck....we will be home again today as we have a sick child!!! have fun
On Saturday, Nov. 22nd, Borders Bookstores is having a family friendly event from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. For children of all ages.
I take my daughter to Myers park in Rockwall every saturday. She plays at the playground, then sometimes we have a picnic. I take her to the Rockwall library as well. She enjoys that quite a bit. We have been trying to do free things with our kids as well.
check the dallas guide that is in the friday newspaper. also, there's the park. make a picnic lunch... take a frizz bee, jump rope, ball...
