I remember when my kids were in pre-school, we used to take a card, giving details about a child and what they wanted for Xmas. We would buy something off that list for the child. I think in my particular case it was a church-affiliated program, but what about contacting a private pre-school or grade school to see if they wanted to do that for your kids. Perhaps looking through Chicago Parent might give you some ideas, and phone numbers to ask for help.

K., We have a christmas party every year where our guests bring gifts for children and we give those gifts usually to toys for tots, but I'd love to help your class. Let me know if this sounds like what you're looking for. THanks, S.

I would be happy to personally purchase a few gifts for your students. If you want to send me a few of the items and an address to mail them to, I would love to help. Also, there is an organization in the Chicago area that works with the post office to deliver Christmas gifts on Christmas eve to low income children. I unfortunately cannot remember the name of the organization, but if I can dig it up, I'll send it along. You can likely find it if you contact the post office.
