Does anyone know anybody who provides childcare in their home? I am looking in the Hobart or Crown Point area. I have a 5 month old girl and I am in a panick that I might not be able to find a sitter. I have a family member watching her now but they are no longer able too! Help please!!!!!

What can I do next?

I know you are looking in the CP/Hobart area, but if St. John is not too far, there's a great lady (my sister's Aunt)who runs a day-care out of her home. She's located right behind Lake Central. I actually have a girlfriend that lives in Hobart and works in Hammond who takes her daughter there. The name of the child care is Kuddlebugs, and the owner's name is Sandy. She has a great home, very child-proofed, clean, big, and in a nice neighborhood. She's a grandmother so she's been around the block with kids. All the kids call her "Grandma Sandy" and they love her. She's totally worth the drive. If you'd like her number, let me know. Good luck and God bless, shopping around for childcare is stressful.

I totally understand your panic. I've had that problem many times with my 2 and almost 5 year old! I live in Portage, IN and have checked out several places. With babies I know it's really rough and you will only want the best! I've checked out a many places and haven't been totally thrilled with any of them. However, the Y in Portage opened a brand new facility and it's very clean and nice inside. I haven't really checked them out but it's worth a shot. If I were you though I'd interview home based childcare providers just because it's so nice to keep a young baby in a home setting, in my opinion anyway. You could check out Craig's List (at the top, chose NWI) and then all the categories come up below and childcare is in there. I know some people are afraid of Craig's List but I would still check out people. Some of them sound good I just never investigated because my siblings are babysitting for me now. Some of the ads state "at home mom, prior daycare provider for years and now wanting to stay home with own children," etc.
