So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone for all of your recipes and tips! I made tatortot hotdish the other night and it was definitely not even close to what I remembered. I hadn't had it in over 10 years though! It was good, but I definitely didn't want to save the leftovers!

K.,

This is my husbands specialty, but we don't add veggies, like some people do, I like them on the side not in the hotdish. My kids LOVE this and will eat it a few meals in a row, I think they would live off it if they could..

1 Large Bag of tator tots (we buy Cub brand)
1 can of Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 can of Cream of Celery
3/4 cup of milk mixed with the soup
1 lb of Ground Beef or Ground Turkey
8oz cheese

375 degrees - 1hr 15 to 1hr 30 minutes

Brown the meat
Mix the soup with milk in a bowl

Layer the pan:
Tator Tots
Meat
Soup mix
Cheese
Tator Tots
Meat
Soup Mix
Cheese

Good Luck and hope this helps!!!

Here's a quick and easy one. I just made it this week.

Brown 1 lb of hamburger (add onions if you wish)
1 can cream of (any type you want) soup
frozen peas - about 1/4 to 1/2 bag depending on your liking
tator tots - amount to your liking.

Mix it all together in a 2 qt oven safe container and pop it in the oven at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes. I put it in at the time suggested for cooking the tator tots.

This recipe is nice because it takes less time because the meat is already browned. My 2 year old loved it!

Your other response sounds right on the mark. However, I'd just suggest a simple keyword search on Google for your recipe, and then pay attention to good sites like Epicurious or allrecipies.com. I've always had good luck with these sites, and you can choose the recipe that matches your ingredients and tastes (such as low-fat, or putting in veggies for not). :-)

I just brown a pound of hamburger, drain and put in a baking dish, add a can of cream of mushroom soup, and a can of drained french cut green beans, mix together, put tater tots on the top, bake at 350 for 1/2 hour.

That's so funny, I just got one off of kare11.com called the Tater Tot Hot Dish. Sounds pretty good. Haven't made it yet so can't tell you for sure if it's god or not.

Here's another I had and have eaten.
1 lb of ground turkey (I use hamburger)
3/4 c chopped onion
1/2 c chopped celery
1/2 tsp garlic power
1 (10 3/4oz) can condensed 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup
1/2 c skim milk (I use whatever % milk I drink)
1 tsp. chicken or beef flavor instant bouillon
1 pkg. green giant frozen cut green beans, thawed
2 c frozen potato nugget/tater tots
In large skillet, combine ground turkey, onions, celery, garlic powder and pepper. Cook over medium heat until turkey is browned. Drain well. Stir in soup, milk, bouillon and green beans. Spoon into sprayed baking dish, top evenly with tater tots. Bake at 375 in a 2 quart baking dish for 35-45 minutes until casserole is bubbly and tater tots are gold brown.

put mix in an 8x11 pan

pat 1 or 2 lbs of raw ground beef (depending on how thick you'd like the meat) into bottom of 9x13 pan. Pour a bag of tator tots over the beef. Spread one can of cream of mushroom soup and one can of golden mushroom soup over the tator tots. Bake at 350 for 40 min if you use 1 lb of beef or an hour if you use 2 lbs. We've tried several tator tot hotdish recipes and this one is hands down favorite among me, hubby, 9 year old boy and 6 year old girl! super fast super easy - about 5 minutes prep!
