Looking for a Playground in BC Area for Traveling Family

My husband and I will be staying on the Boston College campus next week with our two kids, ages 2 and 9, while we're in town for a wedding. I'm not worried about keeping my 9-year-old occupied, but my 2-year-old loves parks and playgrounds right now, and we have no idea how to find one that's close to -- or on -- a college campus. (We're staying at BC because my sister-in-law-to-be works there and arranged our accommodations -- however, she doesn't have kids, so she's not exactly an expert on local parks, and heaven knows she's got enough on her mind already! ;-) I'm hoping someone local can give us some recommendations -- and an approximate address -- for a fun playground for toddlers. Thanks much!

What can I do next?

On the BC campus, there's a playground (or at least there was in 1985) by the Lynch School of Education...Frankly I don't if it's stillthere or if they'd let visitors in but worth checking out....Also, in the Auburndale section of Newton, there's a great park all us locals refer to as "the cove"...great playground and it's by the river(yes,Charles) and ducks. From Boston College (which is really in the Chestnut Hill area of Newton and not Boston) you drive down Commonwealth Ave/Rt. 30 and when you reach Auburndale square, turn right onto Lexington Street and left onto I believe Staniford Street.
Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Hi P.,
I'm sure you've already gotten some responses, but in case you haven't: Dean Park is very close. (Actually, I see on maquest (http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Brookline&state=MA&...) it's technically called Waldstein Playground. I grew up near by and never knew!) There is an entrance on Dean Road and Beacon, but also one closer to BC - on Clinton Path.
Welcome to Boston and enjoy!

Hi there- I grew up in Newton and still live there. It is a great town, close to BOston and other suburbian towns. Lots of great playgrounds nearby. Here is a link that will help you
http://media.wickedlocal.com/newton/project/parks/

My son and I love the following playgrounds:
Newton Center Playground Tyler Terrace Newton, MA 02459
Playground on Lincoln Street in Newton HIghlands.
Another park off on VFW Parkway by the Bertucci's/CVS/Bruegger's Bagels. THis one is great because it has a water park! Enjoy your time here.
