We are expecting our first baby and I want to ONLY breastfeed. I am looking for a good Pediatrician that will be in full support (no bottles or pacifiers at the hospital!) Also be understanding that I am a first time mommy and will be worrying about everything! =) Also be able to make weekend appointments (or 9am on weekdays)So my husband will be able to come along to all the babys visits as well.

Hi S.-

Congratulations! I have a 10 month old girl. I know you are looking for a pediatrician in Safety Harbor, but my pediatrician is wonderful. He is very understanding of everything. I too breastfed. I call him quite ofter for every little question and most of the time he would get right on the phone with me or call me back shortly after I left a message. He does have Saturday office hours! His wife works in the office and she is really sweet, so is Nurse Vicki. I never have to wait, not once have I had to. He is in Largo off of East Bay. I was born and raised in Safety Harbor so that is about 20 minutes or less from there. You should at least set up an appointment to meet him and his staff. He has two little girls. His number is ###-###-####. Oh by the way his name is Timothy Vaughan, M.D. (Dr. Tim). I hope you try him and it works out.

Dear S.,
Although I do not have a specific recommendation for you, I understand your desire to find a supportive pediatrician. I cannot stress enough the importance of you doing so!!! It will make a HUGE difference. I found that the La Leche League members in my area were very helpful in knowing which pediatricians were breastfeeding-friendly. I had just moved to the area and didn't know where to turn. It is a great resource, and I commend you for wanting to exclusively breastfeed - its so much better for the baby!! Getting involved in La Leche can help ease those new mommy fears, as well as provide support should you have breastfeeding concerns. Best of luck!!
