Hello, I'm 7 months pregnant with my first baby (a girl!), and we've just started the search for a pediatrician. All of my doctors are in the city, but we'd like to find a doctor for her where we live in Hoboken. Can anyone suggest anyone?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for your responses! We went for an appointment at Hoboken Pediatrics a couple of weeks ago and were so happy with them. And the best part is that they are only 2 blocks away so we don't even have to worry about driving or parking. The baby's due in about a month, so we will have our first real appointment shortly thereafter. Thank you again!

Hoboken Pediatrics on Willow and 14th is fabulous. Doctors really take care to help with any questions, and you can even email them with non-urgent questions, and they'll get back to you in a day. Very supportive of breastfeeding, and the most natural way of caring for a child (i.e. minimal medication, encourage organic food, etc). Their office has a breastfeeding room and a separate room for "well" kids.

Best example of how caring they are - my daughter had a yeast infection at 6 months (very common, apparently!!) so she had to have a test to ensure it wasn't an issue with the kidneys - the doctor actually drew me a picture of kidneys, etc., and explained exactly what would happen during the test and what they were testing for. Most doctors wouldn't bother explaining a test that, for them, is so commonplace. I just love them!

Definatley Riverside, they have a location in Secacuas that is 24 hour so you can see a doctor any time, beats an emergency room visit. Dr Parikh is our prefered doctor choice.

We went to Dr Taxidor, but we quickly found out he is not as experience as you would want your pediatrician to be.

Hi -
I live in Hoboken and also pregnant with my first (but moving to river edge). Have you taken a look at the pediatricians on 14th st. and Willow Ave? I haven't been there...just walked by. So no idea about the Dr's, nurses, etc. there. But it is worth a look.
good Luck!

I am very happy with Dr. Texidor at Small World Pediatrics. My husband and I are pretty laid back parents and I think he fits well with our personalities and parenting philosophy. But I would suggest doing an interview with him first. His office is very open to it. We have been able to get appointments easily, have contacted him after office hours, and have never felt 'rushed' during appointments at all. The only downside is that they do not accept credit card payments yet, but I keep telling them to get it - so maybe after enough complaints he will!

Hey there - I really like Hoboken Pediatrics - they fit with everything that I believe in like not over medicating a child and are open to talking about alternatives such as homeopathic remedies. Very good at listening to concerns and take the time to talk to you.

Good luck!
