Hello I hope some of you Moms out there can help me. We are new parents and our daughter is still in the NICU at Evanston Northwestern. She will be getting discharged soon and the staff needs us to provide the name of her pediatrician. Since this is our first child, we did not have one from the past. My OB has recommended someone, but she is in a very busy practice in Geneva. We are meeting with a Dr. Granoff on Tues. to interview (He is affiliated with Rush Copley). Is anyone familiar with Dr. Granoff and would anyone have any other recommendations for a good Pediatrician who may have experience with a premature child? Thanks

What can I do next?

Dr. Granoff has been around along time and might be a great Dr. but I have heard really negative things about his bedside manner form a few friends who have seen him. Also I have heard that he is very close to retiring. He only works like two days a week so you often have to see other Dr's in the practice. One of which I have seen personally and it was the worst experience I have had with a Dr. It was Dr. Nadia in that practice. She has no bedside manner and was not really warm or anything. I can't believe she sees children. The other Dr. in that practice that I have had experience with is Dr. Bolanos. He is wonderful. Not sure if he goes to Copley though if that is what you are looking for. My kids go to Dr Greg Milani at Copley. I am not sure about his experience with Preemies but he is a great Dr. He was recommended to my by my cousin who was a Dr at Copley and she said he is the best and I would have to agree. Good Luck I hope you get some great advise. I know it's a tough decision. Dr Granoff would not be my first choice.

Hi R.,
I've had wonderful luck with doctors throughout the Loyola Group. They have many different local offices - we go tot he one in Darien and see Dr. Veselik and we really like him - great bedside manner and everyone there seems to know their stuff. We were originally seeing doctors at DuPage Medical Group - save yourself the trouble and stay away from there.
Good luck with your search!
