Looking for a New OB/GYN in Salt Lake City

I'm looking for a new OB/GYN. I'm not particularly fond of my current doctor, (she gives off a weird religious vibe). My husband and I are trying to conceive and my ideal would me a doctor that can help us through whatever may come up, good or bad. I try to be pragmatic and hope for the best and prepare for the worst. My hope (like all mothers) is that we'll have a healthy pregnancy with few complications. My fear is not only loosing the baby, but having a non-viable fetus and a doctor that refuses to help. I don't want to be up against both a harrowing ordeal and a judgmental doctor. Does such a physician exist in Salt Lake City?

What can I do next?

I had an amazing dr during my last pregnancy. I started out with a midwife (who I thought was fabulous as well!), but we found some problems with baby at our midpregnancy ultrasound so we needed someone who could provide more. After bouncing around through a number of drs at IMC, we ended up at the U with Dr Janice Byrne. Not only does she have an amazing resume experience wise, she was an absolute gem! She was very encouraging and helpful when other drs we had seen had been all doom and gloom. She was very realistic about what we were facing but left all decisions completely in our hands after making sure that we had as much detail and education on the situation as we could possibly have.
She really was amazing through what was a very difficult few months for us, a time that would have been made that much harder without a wonderful dr. I very highly recommend her!

Dr. Stephen Voss. His office is at 850 E. 300 S. He helped me through infertility issues & delivered my 3 kids. I can't say enough good things about his skill in delivery (no rips or snips...and I delivered an almost 9 lb. baby once) and as a surgeon (I've had 3 surgeries with him). His bedside manner rocks - very non-judgmental and supportive. Ask other medical people about him - he has a great reputation. Good luck!

In Salt Lake I LOVE Dr. Lamb. He's at St. Marks Women's Center. In fact I drove all the way down from Heber to have him for my last baby. He's kind and supportive, but not only that the entire office is fabulous. My first baby was with another doctor in the same practice that retired before my 2nd. So I've seen quite a few of the Doctors there. Keep checking out OB's until you find one that you are comfortable with. And good luck on pregnancy!
