S.P.
As a doula, I have worked with several doctors at Baptist. Selecting the doctor that is right for you all depends on what you consider to be a "good" doctor. Some women would prefer a doctor who will do induce them upon request or schedule them an elective c-section. Not all docs will do this. Some women would consider a "good" doctor to be someone who was hands-off unless it was necessary to intervene, trusting in the woman's body to give birth, which many doctors aren't.
Is there a reason why Baptist is your preference?
In addition, you may find a doc that you like, but many of them work in groups with 3, 4, 5 + doctors, so the one you choose may not be the one who is with your for your birth. That is also something to consider since most docs in groups like this do not practice the same way or share similar philosophies.
You may want to consider another hospital as well. St. Luke's is MUCH more mother/baby friendly.
The best doc in town (who delivers at the best hospital in town, St. Lukes) is Dr. VanScriver. She is female and really listens to patients. She trusts in the body to do what it needs to during labor. Most complications of labor are man-made, caused by intervening. She has a very low c-section rate (like 10%, I think) because she is not quick to intervene, therefore causing unncessary problems.
Good luck to you.
