Have you tried Brightmoor Christian Church in Novi? Corner of M-5 and 13 Mile Road. Wonderful church, great people, pastor and lots of things to do for the children. Check it out.
Hello! I am fairly new to the Livonia area, and I am looking for a new church. I have attended Non-denominational churches in the past, but I am open to suggestions. I'm hoping for something that has a Sunday School type class for my 2 boys. I know this sounds completely ridiculous, but I have had issues in the past with a few churches who were not fond of my tattoos. I'm looking for a place where all types of people are accepted. Nothing too formal - but more relaxed. Thank you.

Hi E.:
If you'd prefer something a bit smaller than Ward, or NorthRidge, Memorial Church of Christ in Livonia is really awesome. It's located on 5-Mile Rd., just east of Levan. They have a FABULOUS children's minister, and children's program. They offer a contemporary service at 9:30 a.m. and a traditional service at 11:00 a.m. Good luck, I know how difficult "church shopping" can be!
Hi E.!
Boy do I have the church for you-Northridge Church. It's at Beck Rd. & North Territorial Rd. in Plymouth. It's non-denominational. I have 3 kids (ages 13, 10, & 6) that all LOVE it! And, I have tattoos. It's very rock & roll with a great message. There is a starbuck's like cafe in there so you can even get a coffee or latte before church. It's big, but it's awesome. I have to tell you, at first, I thought the size was going to be too big for me. I had thoughts like 'how can I ever feel connected at such a big church'. I was wrong. I walk out of there feeling so uplifted every week. It's awesome. Plus, my kids love it which is a big deal. I adopted all 3 kids 3 years ago. When they were in foster care, they went to a VERY old, stuffy, Episcopalian church. Our church was a bit overwhelming for them for the first week or two, but then they started loving it right away. Now, they are bummed when we can't go. Another thing I love is that they have 4 weekend services: Saturday at 5:15pm and 7:30pm and Sunday at 9:15am and 11:30am. I like to go to the early Sat. service. Getting 3 kids ready for church on a Sun. morn is quite a challenge. We wear jeans and shorts to church so it's very casual. The pastor almost always has on jeans. Plus, he's really funny (and not bad on the eyes, either! ;) and the music is superb! If you ever decide to try it out and you want to go to the Sat. 5:15 service, let me know and I'll meet you at the front door and show you around-just not this Sat. I've got a party to go to. Good luck and feel free to email me at ____@____.com if you have any questions. The website is www.northridgechurch.com. Check it out, plus if you go to About Us and click on the online talks button below the picture of the pastor, you can hear a service.

Hi E.,
Ward Church on 6 mile and Haggerty has a great children's program and both a contemporary and traditional service. They also have a great Vacation Bible School program coming up the week of June 22nd if your children are entering k-7th grade and it is free. It might be a great way to check it out and get a feel for it. There are many wonderful, caring people there. There are a lot of great churches in the area, so keep trying. I know you'll find a great fit.
My family and I attend Northridge Church in Plymouth. www.northridgechurch.com It is fabulous! It is a come as you are church, and you would fit right in. The children's program is FANTASTIC! It is a large church, but I urge you to give it a try. My kids ASK to go to church and get up on Sunday better than they do for school. They love it. My husband and I do, as well. I wish you luck in your search.
Hi E. I would highly recommed Detroit World Outreach located in Redford on Telegraph and Chicago. This is the church that you are looking for it is non-denominational, its a very relaxed environment. You would truly feel welcomed, its known as the church of all colors. They offer a wonderful Sunday School class for you children. You can even wear a tank and shorts and still feel welcomed. They have two services on Sunday at 8 and 11am. God Bless!!!
I would suggest going to Detroit World Outreach located on W. Chicago and Telegraph in Redford, they are non denominational and except everyone regardless to how many tatoo's or what your past was and they have all kinds of programs/sunday school classes for children. Pastor Jack who passed away a few years ago was a good pastor, I attended but never became a member, it is a lovely church and big. I ended up joining a smaller church 500 members New St. Paul Tabernacle Church of God in Christ located on Southfield Service dr. Hope you find a church home good luck
I just had to respond to this, we attend a wonderful church at Six Mile Rd. and Haggerty Ward EPC. We have 5 services at three times (Chapel @ 8 am, Traditional @ 9:30 am. & 11 am, Contemporary @ 9:30 am and 11 am). There is Sunday School for all ages at both the 9:30 and 11 o Clock hours. Ward is very accepting of all types of people. "We are a family of Christ-followers, who love God passionately, serve others joyfully, and intentionally share our faith with people across the street and around the world"
Hi,
There is a great church that my family and I attend in Plymouth, MI. The church is Northridge Church, and they have a great children's ministry. The church is very diverse and offer many different programs. The church has services on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday hours of service are 5:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.. The Sunday morning services are 9:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Check out the church website at www.northridgechurch.com. Alsoyou can download some of the previous services/teachings for free to get a glimpse into what Northridge Church is all about. Hope this helps!
Hi E.,
You have gotten a lot of responses and may have already found what you are looking for, but I wanted to reply anyway - My husband is a United Methodist pastor and we are getting ready to move to Redford where he is going to be the pastor at Redford Aldersgate UMC on Beech Daly just south of Plymouth. He starts July 5th. I don't know a lot about the church right now but we have met some nice people there already. I am biased of course, but my husband is a great pastor, open to all kinds of people from all walks of life, and we would love to have you and your sons as part of our new community!
Feel free to email with any questions ____@____.com

I would recommend NorthRige Church. They are very relaxed & have great childrens programs. Give them a visit in person or they have a website also. NorthRidge.com.
We have alot of friends that attend it for their special needs ministry they offer & the other children in their familes love the childrens programs as well.

Try Northridge. It's awesome. All are welcome there. No one will care about your tatoos. It is non-denominational and I walk away from every service with good 'food for thought'.

I wasn't going to respond to this one, because there are a lot of church-goers on this site, but i had to because we have the same Mamasource name! We go to Dearborn Covenant Church on Outer Drive in Dearborn. After a long hiatus of not going to church, I came back to the church I grew up in and found a great church family and a haven where I can seek solace from my hectic week. I teach the Middle School Sunday School during the school year to some really great kids. And my husband has tattoos. Check it out online at www.dearborncov.org
P.S. We are a really small church of maybe 150-200 people.
