Looking for a Great Iron!

I've inherited my mother's ironing gene. I iron all of my families clothes, pillow cases and sometimes sheets if they are too wrinkled.

I've been buying Rowenta irons for years but it seems like their price stays the same but their quaility just isn't there anymore. In no time they begin to leak.

So if there is anyone else out there that likes to iron as much as I do could you please let me know what iron you have found to be the best? I like to have a good steam out of my iron.

Thank you!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one who's found Rowenta to have gone cheap on their quality. People should just stop purchasing the irons. Maybe then they get the idea. I've even shipped mine into them for repairs and still had problems.

I really thank you all for your responses and I was secretly curious about the Shark iron and I am familiar with the DeLonghi brand. We have a toaster by DeLonghi and it's now over 10 years old and it still works great. I think the brand is excellent but I guess I didn't realize that they made irons.

I'm going to take a look at all that was mentioned and go from there.

I used to send everything to the cleaners and have them press our shirts, but since the economy fell I cut back and do all laundered pressing myself.

I have had the same el cheapo Sunbeam ($35) for about 7 + years now. I only iron what I have to which feels like everything and equates to about 3 - 4 hours of ironing per week. My husband and I wear cotton collared shirts or polo's and my daughter wears a pleated uniform with a white oxford. ($61 at the cleaners/week)

I finally got sick of it and wondered what the cleaners use. So I started googling and came up with the Sienna Impressa, which I purchased at BBB, with the coupon for about $290. I posted a question a few months back about this and hardly anyone knew what I was asking about. Anyway, it was delivered a few days later and I think it is one of mans greatest creations!

Since you press the bedding too, you would probably be so excited! I had ironing backed up like crazy and in 2 days, I had it all neatly hung in the closet. I do have to do a little clean up with the hand iron because I don't have it perfected, but someone else posted on here said they could press everything with the steam press.

With this machine, I don't get the shiny iron marks on my slacks like I did with the hand iron and my creases are killer!

I figure if I had taken all that clothes to the cleaners, which I was tempted to, I would have spent $250 in one shot. Anyway...I can do the majority of my pressing while I sit at the table and it is done all in the same day.

Glad to hear you say that. I went through 3 Rowentas in 2 years and my MIL acts like I'm crazy. I'll never own another one.
I bought a DeLonghi? Not sure how it's spelled. It was still kinda pricey, I want to say like $80, but I used a 20% off coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I don't iron sheets or pillow cases, but I do like creases in shirt sleeves and slacks. I think it goes back to my early nursing days. Before scrubs! Where that white uniform had to be clean and crisp before someone threw up on you! ;)

Wow, so I'm not the only one who's stopped buying Rowenta (after 4 of them) because of quality issues...are you listening Rowenta?

The last iron I got was this one http://www.hamiltonbeach.com/products/iron-troubleshootin.... It was no where near the 60 dollars msrp, I didn't pay more than 40 dollars for it at Meijers. I've had it over a year and a half so far, 5 shirts + a week, and it's still awesome. Good and hot, the cord doesn't get all tangle-y and the sole plate doesn't get gummed up.
