Wake Forest has some really great schools. I think that the school system has a lot to offer a family.
I do think that communication with the teacher and the school is the most important aspect of your childs education. Be very honest and let the teachers and principal know that you expect more, and don't be afraid to offer your skills or enlist the aid of other skilled parents in the daily education of your child. This can be done in the classroom so that others benifit (because if she is bored so are other kids)or in home setting. I do think that 'challenging' your daughter to 'be herself' is so very important. At her age she is starting to see the world in a different way, things that made perfect sense before are becoming questionable as her awareness of life begins to grow. At no time would I give her the feeling that she has permission to speak 'slang', as it demeans who she is and what she can be.
Find a really good church that has a great childrens program and get envolved. Know this, education is a good thing but it can never replace the love of God, and your family will benifit too. She needs friends, to broaden her horizens, but right now you have the control over who. So choose wisely.
