My son will be turning 6 next month and I'm looking for a fun place to have a birthday party. Does anyone know of any new places out there other than the usual PE 101 or Pizza Machine type party? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

What can I do next?

There's the Children's Museum or the Durham Western Heritage Museum (my son calls it The Train Museum) has various themes for parties (not just train stuff). I know some have gone to the water park (in the hotel, can't remember the name) but I think that's expensive...

I liked the idea you were given of a YMCA swim party - we did that once for a winter b-day and it went over well!

What about bowling at Thunder Alley or my daughter had a party at Bounce U. It was a blast and a great way for the kids to burn off energy. I also loved not having to mess up my house! My husband is a big fan of "off site" parties because of that! There is also the new Pump it Up (off of 72nd street) and Boingz (138th and L). They are also inflatable jumping places. Have fun!

Hi D.,
I am a Noah's Ark Animal Workshop consultant. I come to your home or location of choice, which eliminates the expense of traveling to your party venue or worrying about the safety of the children in a public place.
Each child gets to hand stuff their own cuddly animal, dress and accessorize it and complete a birth certificate. We have many animals and outfits to choose from so a certain theme can be accomplished easily such as a sports, jungle safari, zoo theme etc.

I am a former Millard elementary school teacher so I always incorporate a story or educational activity to go along with the workshop. Feel free to check out my website at www.barattabears.com if you would like more information.

Sincerely,
A.

You could do a pool party at a local YMCA. Something different and you don't normally expect to be going to a pool party in the middle of winter! :)
