I am looking for a family pratice in fairfax area, i have been to some practices but was not satisfied. This weekend I had a bad stomach ache ,went to an urgent care they ran some test and found out my wbc count is high not sure why?So i need to find a doctor who can properly evaluate me. I will really appreciate the help if anyone can refer me a good family practitioner.

What can I do next?

I am VERY fussy about doctors...Sandra Ratterman, MD at INOVA Fair Lakes came highly recommended and she is awesome! http://connect.inova.com/physician/mddb.physician.phy_vie...

My family practioner is Dr. Kavian Milani. He is in Fairfax, in the office buildings of the Circle Towers apt complex. The only downside is he often runs behind and you end up having a long wait from time to time. Good luck

I second the need to get to your OB today. However, persist in asking them to refer you to someone either a specialist or a GP.

R. -- we use Vienna Family Medicine on Park Street in Vienna, though I will say I'm not crazy about the practice (easy to get seen quickly if you're sick, but you see someone different every time and they don't spend much time with you or seem to listen very closely). However, do you have an obstetrician, since you're pregnant? Your ob/gyn should be involved in all this. If your white blood count is high and you've had pain in the stomach/abdominal area, your ob/gyn would definitely want to know and probably to see you too. No offense to urgent care places but I don't know whether an urgent care doctor would have enough experience treating a pregnant woman to deal with those symptoms. Call your ob/gyn right away today and report what happened -- it could be nothing or she could want to see you now. If you don't have an ob/gyn, I use Women Physicians of Northern Va., and like them, but their offices are in Reston and Ashburn -- might be too far for you to go, especially with a toddler along. Dont' let any practice make you wait -- tell them these symptoms and say that since you're pregnant you need to be seen the same day, not weeks from now. Again, it could be nothing but if you're pregnant you should get checked out.
