I'm not sure if he is retired or not, but Reverend Bless at the little German church in the German village in Huntington Beach (right behind the shopping center at Beach Blvd and the 405, was very helpful to us for our wedding and our daughter's wedding, since we didn't belong to a church. He has an office in the German village, and he was still there about 3 or 4 years ago. Although I'm sure you would need to pay something for the use of the church and his services, because it's his only way of making a living and keeping the church open, he appears to be a very modest man and not out to charge a lot for what he does. Just explain your circumstances.

Mariner's church has a really great children's program. I have a 14 year old son and have been attending for a few years. It has been great for him and he loves going. I am sure that you could have him babtized here. There is a little class, but I think it is just one day and I do not believe there is a charge.

I've been a member of Red Hill Lutheran Church in Tustin for about 26 years... my parents never paid to have any of us (5 kids) baptized or confirmed. We went to classes for confirmation but baptism I think is a one day or maybe one month of classes for the godparents or the parents or the child. I'm not sure. When we baptized my son, it was free.

Hello! I belong to Saint Matthew Ecumenical Catholic Church in Orange, very near Main Place Mall. We are Catholic but not Roman Catholic, so we do a traditional Catholic mass, with slight differences. Father Peter Hickman is terrific and very welcoming. The church community is small and friendly. There may be a small donation requested but I don't think there are classes required. The website is
http://saint-matthew.org/index.php. Please feel free to call Father Peter and ask him about baptisms. He did both of my children's. One was right after a mass and another ended up being integrated into the mass. Both were very touching and celebratory. Good luck with your search!
