Hi Moms,
When I taught 2nd grade, a room mom read a certain Christmas book to my students that the kids really enjoyed. I don't remember the title, but here's what I do remember:
the kids used their 5 senses to enjoy the story... some examples (but I'm not sure exactly if I'm accurate..... for hearing/listening, the room mom shook bells, for tasting, she let the kids each lick their own candy cane, for smelling, the kids smelled gingerbread, etc...Does this sound familiar to you? I would love to start or finish the holiday party with this type of book. Or, if you know of any other book to read, I'd love to know about it. I would like a book that none or only a few have heard before.
Thank you so much!
J.
Thank you so much ladies. I enjoyed checking the website links and I got some more ideas for the holiday party (ie.. reindeer recipe) that I will be doing along with another mom. Thanks especially to Amy because this EXACTLY the book that I want called The Sweet Smell of Christmas. I guess I said it was incorporating all 5 senses, but it's just the smell of Christmas and the students loved it because the smells were all so good. I think I'll still let them drink hot chocolate besides just letting them smell the powder. Yay! I can't wait to get the book and read it to them on the 18th! (along with sharing some yummy smells)

Don't know if this is it but it is a Christmas on-line book about the 5 senses.

Joni thank you for that link! I am having a 2 year old's Christmas party next Saturday, and this will be perfect for us. What a cute idea, thank you! And J., I hope that's what you were looking for...either way, this sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks ladies!
Could it be the Sweet Smell of Christmas book? It is a scratch and sniff book about a little bear and the things he smells during the Christmas season. Including, candy canes, gingerbread, pine, orange and hot cocoa. It was one of my favorite books as a child and I just bought a copy for my son at Borders last weekend.
Hope this helps.
