Hi! My husband and I are really wanting to to have another child (we have a 3 year old boy) but are very concerned with the cost. See I don't have any maternity coverage and now a days, you really can't get it without paying a TON of $$. So, I love my OBGYN, but she is very expensive even with their "self-pay" discount. And we just can't handle her fees. Can anyone help me out with some referrals?? My husband and I would be so grateful!

What can I do next?

I go to Dr. Arroyo at the Kansas City Women's Clinic. Not sure of his costs with self-pay but you can always call to ask. The number is ###-###-####. They are at 435 and Quivira (The office bldg right next to O.P. Regional.

I'm not sure about cost, but I love Dr. Bavishi at Olathe Medical Center. She is in practice by herself but all the OB/GYNs share call at OMC. The faciltiys at OMC are plush too with jacuzzi tubs.

I also like Dr. Stacker at KUMC. She's very nice and I believe KU has a program for families's with insurance concerns. The Labor and Delivery facilities seem a bit outdated but KU has a great reputation and is constantly renovating the hospital.

I don't know if this still holds true or not, but 10 years ago one of my friends had a baby and received her maternity care at the health dept and then delivered at KU med all for a greatly reduced fee. Planned Parenthood may also offer maternity care or know of someone who offers reduced fee services.

If you have normal healthy pregnancies, what you need is a midwife! Since you are in Olathe, check out Kelly Fritz CNM (certified nurse midwife). If you don't know anything about CNMs then check out their website at www.midwife.org She works with a DO, Tammy Micheals and they are both terrific practioners. Best wishes.

I'm not sure about fees, but I would recommend my ob/gyn wholeheartedly! It's Dr. Erickk Arroyo in the KC Women's Clinic at 435 & Quivira medical bldg. Number is ###-###-####. He delivered my daughter 8 years ago, and I continue to see him. And I would pay to see him if my insurance didn't. He's got an absolutely great bedside manner and actually listens to me if I have issues! What a great feeling when it comes to that area of the body!

I go to Dr. Kettler in Stanley at College Park Family Care Center. I know that he is very understanding and helpful, and they are a Christian based practice. He has helped me out at times in the past whenever I had no ins. by giving me samples and not charging for some of the services I have had done. My whole family goes to him, he is a family doctor (pediatrician, ob/gyn, the works). We have been going to him since 2002 and we all love him.
