Hi Moms-My dear husband and I celebrate our 12 year anniversary in June and we are wanting a quiet, relaxing bed and breakfast for just a two night stay. Anyone familiar with one maybe in Brenham or close by? We live in Cypress and we've never stayed in one and something we've wanted to do. My main request is that it be somewhat private and just very relaxing!! We'd like to do maybe some horseback riding nearby or just something fun like that. I appreciate any feedback! Thanks, E.

What can I do next?

Expensive, but has the only 5 star Mobil rating in Texas for it's restaurant. We are going there for our ten year anniversary. It is very close by, just in Chappell Hill on 290 at 1155, an hour or a little more. They have horse back riding. You can even order a pic nic lunch to be set up for you. They were just profiled Sunday in the Chronicle's Travel section, but you could find the article on the website.

Happy Anniversary.

There are also some pretty places in/around Chappell Hill. My friend had her wedding recp. at a huge plantation home B&B there. Also, check out Round Top - where the center of the antique show are 2 X a year. Quaint little town - until the shoppers converge in Oct. & April !

There is a great B&B in Brenham. The web site is www.scenichillvacations.com. Very relaxing, quiet and peaceful. I recommend the Treehouse to stay in. It is one big open room in the tree tops overlooking other cabins in the distance, pasture, and well....trees. The place provides breakfast items in the room for you so you can prepare you meal any time in the morning you like. Instead of having to be up at a certain time and dining with others. The rooms are fully equipped with some kitchen utensils and spices (read more on the web site). Washington-on-the-Brazos is not far away either. Have fun, I know we did.

Messina Hof winery in College Station has a B&B and it is a lot of fun. Wine & vineyard tours, and a wine & cheese reception for all the guests that stay at the B&B...a very NICE restaurant on the grounds as well! We went there for my 30th birthday and it was so fun!

My husband and I have stayed (and he proposed) at Cypress Fork Ranch in Dripping Springs. It is close to Austin. We love this place because your room is seperate from the main house, has a beautiful patio to eat breakfast on, pool, hot tub, and is on about 100 acres so you can take quiet walks. Have fun and congrats

Brenham is GREAT have you done a google search? There are several in Brenham. That's where we honeymooned as well as my sister's BIL- they stayed at a ranch in a private cabin. http://www.hat.org/

Wimberly is really neat and has lots of B&B. Hamilton Pool is one of the big attractions there, as well as a glassmaker and MANY unique shops.

There are some in Galveston- there's a very pretty one on Post Office street just past Mission Bible Church.

I went to a wedding at a B&B in Alvin and it was fabulous. I would LOVE to stay there. http://www.oakwindweddings.com/ These shows photos of three bedrooms in the main house, but my sister told me that there's some separate accommodations as well so I suggest talking to them about it. If you look at the wedding pictures it gives you an idea what the grounds and rest of the house looks like.

I have stayed in the Hotel Limpia and it's by far my favorite, but may be a little farther then you want to go. http://www.hotellimpia.com/

For our anniversary last year we went to a B&B in Bryan / College Station called "The Reveille Inn" - http://www.reveilleinn.com/ Since it was in July (and most students aren't in school) we have the entire B&B to ourselves! We went to the Messina Hof winery for a tour and tasting. It was a great time. All of the other responses are great too. If you go to www.bedandbreakfast.com you can look by city and then view specific websites for pictures, rates, reviews, etc. Good luck and have fun!

I love B&B's and I have stayed at The Blisswood in Cat Springs, 10-15 outside Sealy. It is an awesome place, it has horseback riding, massages, and lots to see on site. I highly suggest renting one of their golf carts to get around the property. I have conducted a couple of Scrapbook retreats there and the girls loved it.

They also have Carol's at Cat Springs, great restaraunt

My husband and I drove over to Fredrickbburg, TX (it is close to Austin)for our anniversary last year and had a wonderful time.

Look it up on the internet and you will see that this might be the perfect place for you to stay. The whole environment is like a small town and there are bed and breakfasts galore! We actually opted to stay in a hotel called The Inn on Baron's Creek. It was so nice.

Google "Fredricksburg, TX" and you will get so many hits. You will see tons of places to stay. Good luck and have fun!

My husband and I stayed at The Flippen Place in College Station. ###-###-#### It is on the outskirts of College Station so it is very secluded but still close enough to go into town. They have plenty of wooded areas that you are welcome to wander and explore. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend to anyone else.
