I bet the doctor would just think you were calling to brag. Enjoy it while it last. My daughter was a great napper (2.5) did 3 to 3.5 for a short while then NO NAP. Very weird.
Good luck.
My 2 1/2 year old is a great nap taker. Until 2 weeks ago the naps were about 2 - 2 1/2 hours. For the past 2 weeks they have been 3 to 3 1/2 hours and I'm a tad concerned. I understand that children will sleep longer when they are going through a growth spurt - but is this normal? Should we be concerned and call the doctor?

IT is probably a growth spurt for sure. Is it disrupting his nighttime sleep? I wouldn't let him sleep three hours though, for a two year old that is a lot.
My son and daughter both had periods while still napping they would take longer ones during growth spurts.
I would wake him after the usual 2 1/2 hours, maybe lay him down for bed earlier then.
Don't worry...just enjoy it. My son - 2.5 yo - is the same way. He sometimes has 2-2.5 hour naps and then will go through a period of time where they are longer. He also tends to sleep longer on weekends since we've started the daycare at our home. (He knows the other kids are here during the week and wants to play!)
Unfortunately, at 2.5 yrs, I am afraid the long naps won't last too much longer... Enjoy your downtime before #2 is here! :o)

My little boy takes 2 hour naps at daycare and anywhere from 3 to 4 hour naps at my house on the weekends. I asked his doctor if I should be worried about it and he said no, it could be a growth spurt or it could be that he feels more comfortable and safe sleeping at home unless it's effecting his bed time and what not I have nothing to worry about he is completely health. Hope this helps. =0)

My son who is now 3-years old has always taken long naps (2-3 hours). He is a very happy little fellow and still goes to bed everynight at 9:00 p.m. A few weeks back a child psychologist told me that he should be getting 11-12 hours sleep a day including naps.
Whenever my daughter starts to sleep longer it is because she needs it for some reason or other. I have noticed though that it only usually last for a couple weeks at most and then she goes back to shorter naps. I would say not to worry about it. But if it is something that you are concerned about, then call the Doctor, there is nothing wrong with being a concerned mom.
I wouldn't worry. Just enjoy the extra quiet. She's is probably growing somemore. My sons both did the same thing at different times. In fact my youngest would nap after he got home from kindergarten for the first month and a half of the school year. He was almost six.
My son is the same age and has been doing the same thing. I say enjoy it, especially because you're pregnant! Oh, by the way, I am a birth doula in your area. Not sure if you've ever thought about a doula, but I'm happy to answer questions if you have.
ahhh naps i miss those. I wouldn't be concerned unless it was hitting 4-5 hours as long as everything else is normal ie eating, playing etc. It could be a growth spurt or just the body trying to adjust. The body knows what it needs and sometimes its a little extra sleep. I love 3 1/2 hour naps with my almost 2 year old, my almost 4 year old is pretty much not napping anymore, that was my quiet time but i've learned to keep him busy so i can still get an hour or two to have some me time.
I love it, that is exactly what my 2 1/2 year old does too. In fact the other day she slept for 4 hours. I absolutely love it. I only wish my 11 month old would do it too. ha ha I wouldn't be too worried, I just figure they need it. I think its pretty normal.
If she is waking up happy, plays normal, is eating normal..etc. I would not worry. Her body is probably just growing and adjusting to all the great talents she is learning everyday. Enjoy the naps now. Before you know it they will be a thing of the past.
