Lizards....HELP!!!!

the "lizards" you speak of are probably geckos. If you get rid of the geckos you will probably be overrun with spiders, and I don't mean the "good kind". So you need to decide which one you would rather have; Spiders (which can bite and cause serious harm) or geckos (which harm no one but the bugs).

However, you CAN keep them out of your house. Go around and make sure all of your windows and doors seal properly. Buy extra find steel wool and place it in all the weep holes around your house foundation. Check and make sure the gasket on the bottom of your garage door is sealing properly.

I love those little lizards, but I see ur delimma :D If you get rid of the bugs, you will get rid of them. Do you spray? That will get rid of them.

I used to live in Florida, where there are so many lizards that once I counted over 50(!) running across my walk between my front door and my car. Yet, I rarely had them in my house. I realized that the main ways to keep them out of the house are:

Make sure they have food to eat outside--yes, I know a lot of people are telling you to eliminate their food source. However, if you take the bugs away outside, they come INSIDE looking for food. Be sure, if you have exterminators coming, that not all of the bugs outside are killed. They will come inside looking for them. If there is enough for them to eat outside, they will stay there. They don't want to be inside, either.

Keep your caulking up-to-date. If they are able to come in through the cracks in caulking, along windows and doors, etc, they will come in looking for food.

I'm sorry, but your visual made me laugh a little too. I live in a very old house, so keeping them out is a chore. I love them, so I just catch them and take them back outside. My son thinks it's great that we're like Diego- the "animal rescuers". I think everyone offered a lot of good advice, and I just wanted to to add that it's probably very temporary. Within the month as it starts cooling off, they will be disappearing.

We have some geckos outside and I think they are cute and helpful in keeping insects at bay. But if they infest the inside of my home, I will feel differently. From what I have read you need to hook up the bug spray that you attach to your hose and spray all the way around your house. (shrubs included) The site I read sounded like this would just take away their food source and not harm them. They don't like temperatures below 65 so maybe they would leave if you made it cold for a couple of days. Or if it comes down to you or them, I've heard sticky traps work. Your husband can rescue them from the sticky traps by putting vegtable oil on them and pulling them off and putting them outside. Good luck and let us know what works.

When we notice the lizards outside (and little frogs) we know it is time to treat our yard.

We live on a heavily wooded lot...to keep the snakes, lizards, etc at bay.......we REMOVE their food source...which is bugs.

Hubby treats the yard, sprays the foundation of the house, the bugs die, therefore the critters move on to another place that has food.

I know, I know, I use chemicals (always have, always will) but I have copperhead snakes at my door and I prefer using a chemical to keep it out of my yard vs having one in my house and/or being bitten.

Ewww I know this totally freaked you out because it used to happen to us too. Until we had an exterminator service come do quarterly treatments in and around our home. Once we got rid of their food supply, they moved on. We never saw bugs in or around our house, but there was enough of them to keep the lizards well fed.

You could always get a cat. They keep everything down...bugs, rodents, reptiles.
