Living Will

My husand and I have been talking for over three years about creating our living will -- mainly for our son (and now for this one). The cost is one of the biggest things holding us back right now, but we want to get it done ASAP. Does anyone know how to write a legal living will at little or no cost? The cheapest we've found was over $100. That's not feasible for us right now since I'm staying home, and we're expecting soon.

We bought the WillMaker program, I think it was around 40.00. It is on your computer, so you can change it whenever you want. You just need two witness signatures.

Prepaid Legal - it was free when we signed up for their service through work.

Go to your local library. They should have lots of books about writing your own will.

My husband and I had our will, power of attorney, medical directive, everything through Pre-Paid Legal. You are covered immediately after purchasing (~$30) for a month. They send you the questionnaire for you and your spouse once you sign up. You complete it and send it to your assigned law firm. They send in back in about 10 days. Simple as that. You can then cancel your membership or keep it as the benefits are pretty nice. My husband and I decided to keep it because we started our own business so they help with the contracts, etc. They also helped me dispute an item on my credit report. Let me know if you are interested!

I second prepaid legal. We joined them. Not only do you get a free living will but they also provide you with free power of attorney paperwork as well. Also you have access to a law firm for any need at a discount rate. They also provide identity theft protection through Identity Theftshield. It's a month to month membership of a fee between $20-$30. You can sign up and if all you want is the wills and the power of attorney, get that done and then cancel your membership. If you want their contact information please let me know and I can give the contact information to the agent that I use. We've been with them for about 3 years and haven't had any complaints. Good luck and it's very wise to get one done. Congrats on the baby! We're expecting our second together in August. :)
