My 7 y/o has started public school this year and we are in a hurry every morning. I am looking for some quick breakfast ideas that are sensitive on the tummy.
So far I've been giving her oatmeal with fruit, pancakes or Life cereal. The oatmeal and cereal really make her stomach ache but the pancakes seem to be ok but I can't feed her pancakes 5 days a week.
Please send your helpful meal ideas my way.
(Hopefully something that won't take more than 10 minutes to prepare)
I would so greatly appreciate it.

What can I do next?

Mini muffins, rice cakes, nutria grain bars, sliced cheese and crackers, croissants, and other breads like raisin bread yum. Good luck, and I'm sorry she has a sensitive stomach.

My son has a protein shake with a banana or strawberries in it. Younger children may like a meal shake. Vanilla or chocolate. I use rice milk, which can be easier on the stomach.

Hi V.! My daughter too has a sensitive tummy. Something I've found that she likes is a piece of raisin bread toasted with a little peanut butter and honey spread on it. I serve this with a handful of frozen red grapes. Best wishes to you and your daughter!

My son likes the "go gurts" that you squirt out of the tube into your mouth. Sometimes, if we are running late, he eats that in the car. He also likes a bagel with peanut butter on it. I also give him cheese toast (bread with cheese on it broiled in the oven) and cinnamon toast (toast from the toaster with butter, sugar, and cinnnamon (obviously not my first choice for breakfast, but he does get it as a treat)).

Cereal bars are great...also there are these things called Bagelfuls in the freezer aisle...bagel and cream cheese all wrapped into one....very easy...just pop it in micro for i think 1 minute....they have several different flavors...also...i like to give my son a Danactive...he thinks it's a smoothie and it helps "regulate" his digestive system!!!!

A container of yogurt might work - it comes in all kinds of flavors and is good for the digestion - even the cheap brands are good for the digestion as long as they have active cultures. My little one likes to eat toast fingers with a banana on the side also - of course I have to finish the banana but that's OK. Both are easy on the tummy.

Are you sure it isn't the milk that makes her tummy hurt? Try 2% or a milk substitute. Otherwise, microwave scrambled eggs are good and they only take 1.5 minutes. Break the egg in a bowl, drop in a little salt and pepper and maybe some cheddar cheese, stir it up with a fork and nuke it for 1.5-2 minutes. They come out light and fluffy and pretty tasty. Try eggs and toast and juice (instead of milk) and see what happens. My daughter didn't like eggs until I made them this way and let her make toast and egg sandwiches out of them. I made the eggs and toast, she assembled the sandwich. She is in college now and she says she still eats them for breakfast (on the way to class).

Muffins!
I make those Pumpkin Weight watchers ones.

1 can pumpkin
1 box Spice or yellow cake

Mix together and bake as cupcakes!
I usually add about 1/2 cup water, cinnamon or pumpkin spice. Water to thin it out (it's really thick)and spices to add more flavoring!

My picky eater looooves these. The batter makes a lot, so I keep some out and freeze the rest.

This takes about 1/2 hour to make...so make them like on a Sunday for the week???..

I feel your pain on this one! Recently my 8 year old has discovered that she likes almonds, so I think that would be a great way to start her day!! Would she do some kind of nuts, and maybe an apple, or smoothie? The problem with all of the carbs, esp. pancakes or muffins, is that while yummy, are SOOOOO not healthy in any way!! But some kind of protien will really help stablize her sugars, and should be easy on the stomach. (I am not a big fan of eggs in the am, they do make me a little queasy, so the nuts have been helpful for me too!). Or, since I have gone gluten free, I have had suggestions of rice for breakfast too, warmed up with some cinnamon etc. Maybe a baggie of trail mix..nuts, dry cereal, cried fruit, sunflower or pumpkin seeds, and we always throw in a few choc. chips for fun:) If she will eat some turkey and cheese even, that would be great!! You may have to think out of the breakfast box on this one, and settle for things that she would normally eat for lunch...PB&J etc. Good luck ~A.~

Oh I've been there, still can only eat certain things for breakfast or I get a major stomachache. It's probably too much acid. If you're ok with giving her some Zantac, prevacid that should help. Really, the only things that I can eat in the morning are carbs, breakfast bars like peanut butter ones, muffins, bagels, pancakes, waffles, crackers with peanut butter. Basically, dry stuff. If she's like me, even fruit is too acidic, juice, is horrible in the morning. I know it's frustrating, but there's not alot of choices for people with our problem. Hopefully, she'll grow out of it. Good luck!

My daughters doesn't like to eat a very heavy breakfast. We usually stick with granola bars or cereal bars and either a glass of milk or orange juice. HTH!

peanut butter banana in a tortilla - a tortilla smeared with peanut butter wrapped around a banana.

peanut butter and honey quesadilla - smear peanut butter and honey on a tortilla, fold in half, and grill - or not.

pbj quesadilla

cereal snack - cheerios and raisins in a bag, no milk.

Sliced apple

String cheese

Or just switch to whole grain pancakes and feed her pancakes 5 days a week. They make it in a mix now.

It doesn't have to be breakfast food.
