Hi Everyone! I would like to hear any suggestions or tips for going to Legoland in CA this March. Our kids are 5 and 7. We are driving and are thinking about having 3 days there to do activities. Would you recommend having 2 or 3 days there? Looking on line I do not see a 3 day ticket available. Where have you stayed? We were thinking as close as possible to avoid entry lines like disney if they exist there. Are the lines long? Is the aquarium an all day thing and is it worth it? I see it is not very expensive. Are the weekends much busier this time of the year and is it actually possible to enjoy the water park or is it too cold? Is there a beach near by that is worth the trip this time of year?Parks close at 5pm what have you done in the evenings? Have you found any good deals on tickets? I am sure that I am forgetting several things, any and all suggestions and experiences are most welcome! Thank you!

What can I do next?

I haven't been there recently so I don't have any specific tips other than to say we have taken our boys 2 or 3 times and we loved it every time. We stayed in Carlsbad, in some sort of Hilton or Marriot property that was family friendly. Maybe a Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites or something like that. There are beaches nearby, but I don't know what they are like at that time of year. I dont' remember the lines being long, but we never went during spring break. We were there in October and May. We never did anything in the evenings other than dinner, swimming in the hotel pool and getting to bed. Have fun--I love Legoland.

ETA: I do remember that the 2 day ticket is a much better deal than one day. I don't remember a 3 day, but maybe you should call and ask. Two days is just about perfect without the Aquarium. The Aquarium wasn't completed yet last time we were there so I can't comment. Also, they do have a significant AAA discount if you have a membership.

We just got season passes to Legoland this year. Here is my take. 2 days is definitely enough time to see everything. Weekdays are MUCH more preferable to weekends. As someone else said here, lines are SLOW, even if they are not long. The aquarium is not an all day thing. Maybe a couple of hours at most. The water park will open on March 10. It's hard to predict the weather. It could be warm enough... but then again, it could be too cold. If it's too cold for the water park, it will be too cold for the beach. But there are a lot of beaches nearby. Moonlight Beach in Encinitas is the first one that comes to mind, but there are probably others I don't know about.

I enjoyed the aquarium the last time I went with my 11 year old. That said, we were done in two hours! We went back to Legoland and played around for a while. Legoland is really a one day trip. I would do something else the third day. We went in September (over a long weekend) and it was too cold for the water park. Not too cold for the beach but didn't get into swim suits and all, we just went and played on the beach. The last time we were there in March and it was too cold for the water park as well. We did go to the beach in San Diego though and it was windy and chilly but beautiful (had the beach almost to ourselves). Not sunbathing weather but fun for those of us who do not get there often.

Skip the aquarium my kids were done in 30min (no joke). Call the local Carlsbad Costco because I think they have better deals there than the park has. Also most important check out the Legoland Calendar!! We went there one day in Oct and it was closed, I pictured my husband turning into Clark Griswold... lucky for us it was open in 2 more days & were there all week so we just moved some things around.

There is a hotel right on site with, I think, an entrance to the park. I'm pretty sure it's a Sheraton, but you can check online. I haven't stayed there, but I know it's there.

You definitely do not need 3 days to enjoy Legoland. One day is probably enough, two is most definitely enough. Maybe do 1.5 days at Legoland and 1/2 day at the aquarium. There is no way of knowing now what the weather will be like. Last week, we had days where it was 80 degrees; today was more like 60 degrees. So you'd just have to wait and see.

The lines at Legoland generally aren't too long; however, they move slowly. For whatever reason, the park just isn't very efficient.

You might want to consider two days at Legoland/Aquarium/Waterpark and spending the third day at the San Diego Zoo.

When we went we planned on one day at Legoland and one day at SeaLife, boy was I wrong. We did see the whole Legoland in one day however we were in and out of the SeaLife in about 2 hours. So we just ended up purchasing tickets to go to Legoland that day, thankfully someone in front of us gave us a buy 1/get 1 free coupon. Wow, we were lucky!

I have used this website several times and they have a really good deal right now on Legoland/SeaLife tickets. You buy one park hopper ticket and you get the second day free. So for two adults and two children it would cost you $296. This website also gives you really good deals on hotels. We have planned at least four vacations through them, hotel and tickets purchased with them.

You can also look on Ebay for the B1G1 coupons that the PTA members in California sell, they worked just fine for when we went and used them.

Good luck and have fun!
