Three of my closest girlfriends all joined the YMCA on South hill. So far all of them love it. Their kids range from 9 months to 9 years. The boys do Karate with their moms! The 5 yo girl does gymnastics (didn't like standing in the cold for the learn to swim class) and the 9 month old goes in his stroller around an indoor track(so I hear)They say the daycare part is only $2/ hour if you're interested but no one I know uses it.
I haven't joined yet because I play sports but I'm thinking strongly about it. Please let me know what you chose.

The YMCA Morgan Branch on Pearl St, Tacoma is a great place to take your little one! It offers different times in the mornings (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs) for toddler gym, which is just a huge gym with all sorts of stuff, ie. slides, balance beams, bars, trampolines, teeter totters, balls, etc. So fun! www.tacomaymca.org

And the childrens museum in downtown Tacoma has some fun programs on Tues and Wed mornings at 9:30 am for 1 hour and then of course free time afterward. Songs, art, circle time.

Both great choices!!

I have recently started "gymnastic" and swimming with my daughter at the YMCA. There are lots of other Moms, but they seem a little "clique-y" so, we'll see. let me know if you ahve gotten any other ideas :-)

There is a "Little Gym" in Puyallup by the mall. They offer parent-child classes that kids really seem to love. Also, the YMCA has many choices to choose from. I suppose it depends on how much you want to spend. You can check them both out online at www.thelittlegym.com and www.tacomaymca.org. I have been to both. They YMCA is cheaper and you can join as many classes as you want under that same fee. Good Luck!
