Hey ladies,

Wondering if any of you have bought either of these gaming/education systems for your kids, and what your experience was with them? They both seem to have issue, via amazon.com reviews, but they both also get strong reviews, about 4/5 stars. The Leapster looks slightly better. Anybody?

Hope you are all well, and having fun doing your holiday shopping. We discovered these WEBBUSTER specials online and avoided all the DOORBUSTER madness. Kohl's, Macy's, JC Penney, WalMart, and ToysRUs had/have great deals. If you do a search for ecoupon or promo code you can often get 10% or more off.

Peace,
Richard

HI Richard,

I must say that I have the VSmile. That thing is so much easier to use than the Leapster TV. My son is smart but the handle is a little complicated with the use of the A and B function buttons. On the VSmile they have the color buttons and then the big button with a joystick. It has some really good games that teach a number of things. I love the system. I checked out the Leapster TV in the store and it really is not that great. The cotroller is rather close to the system meaning that if you child moves around the system will be dragged with the controller. The VSmile has a longer cord, can be played with two players, and teaches children about taking turns when in 2 player mode. The only disadvantage that I have had it that it doesn't come with the cord. I had to buy that for $10.00 more. It works on both batteries or cord. The controller can also be used for either left or right handed kids. It does have other attachments like the one for drawing, one for exercise, and another that I can not remember right now. The VSmile attachment do cost like 30 dollars more but they come with the games needed to play with them and a rather large pieces. There are more benefits to them but my suggestion would be to go into the store and try out the displays that they have for them so that you get a better idea of what it is that you are buying. But Hands down for me would be the VSmile.

Hi Richard,

I decided on the V.Smile for my son's christmas present. I bought it at sam's club for $49/$50, and it came with two controllers, and some alphabet game.

I didn't look too much into the leapster, but I did kind of like the setup of the v. smile controller better.

I read some reviews that people thought the leapster games used the same voice for all the games.

well, i gotta run.
good luck.
Melanie

I have twins as well. I actually got them both a leapster. It was the best thing I did. They both had their own games they could play, and we could take it with us, which was great!! It has helped me at doctors offices and long road trips. Having two kids the same age, it has come in handy. They also play together with the new hook up if they want. We have had them for 2 years now and I am still happy with them. Just my 2 cents.
