I received a Fridge Phonics used from a friend. I didn't get the box with it so I'm not sure if I can throw the letters into soapy water to clean them or if I have to not submerse them. Does anyone know? Thanks

What can I do next?

Hi C.! We have the same set. I have put them into the dishwasher a couple of times..and they DO fade the coloring on the front a little bit. It doesn't affect the magneticism, but it takes some of the colored paint off. Otherwise I use the bleach wipes, but it is really hard to get in all of the little cracks with those. I think submersing them in a mild detergent might work...and maybe wouldnt' take the coloring off. I use my dishwashers' heated dry, too...which could have had something to do with the paint coming off.

We have 3 of the leapfrog fridge products, and love them. I just wash the magnets in hot soapy water(antibacterial dish soap), but don't leave them to soak, just to be safe. I have used antibacterial wipes (or you could just use rubbing alcohol) on the elctronic parts.
Remember too, that not all bacteria is bad. Exposure to some bacteria can actually help build up resistance.

i wouldn't put them in soapy water but try disinfected wipes. i use them for alot of toys i buy at rummage sales. and they seem to do the trick!!

Those are my most favorite toys every! Anyway, I have had mine for 3 years now and every once in a while, I fill the bathtub with a little soap and throw in a bunch of toys. I don't let them soak all that long and I let it dry a bit on a towel. They are working just fine. With the part that is electrical I would just take the wipes for those as well.
