The little one is nearly a year and a half. He can manage a cup and a straw but can't get the hang of or can't be asked to use a sippy with a hard spout (he'd sooner go without). Can you recommend a good spill proof straw sippy? One with parts which are easy to clean? He can't yet be trusted to use a regular cup or regular straw without throwing or upending it.

Thanks

My son never did figure out how to use the spout cups. I used a munchkin cup for a while, and then switched him to sports bottles by the time he was 2. He liked them because they were just like Mom And Dad's bottles. And we liked it because we no longer had to keep special cups just for him. we were also fortunate that his daycare provider stopped using sippy cups and straw cups once the kiddos turned one That's where he learned to drink from a regular cup without tipping it over

I had used a munchkin sippy cup I got at Target for my son. He hated the hard spouts also. The spout was a soft one like some water bottles have. I also had Munchkin straw sippy cups that were awesome and did not spill at all. And my son was (is) good at leaving things all over without standing it up. I cleaned sippy spouts and straws with pipe cleaners. Got them nice and clean.

My niece was using something like this with her little one - there's no spout at all, easy to wash (no spout), and you can suck anywhere along the rim. It might not be this exact one but it doesn't leak if it falls upside down .. I thought it was quite ingenious.

I know it does not have a straw - but might be worth looking at:

I got a tumbler with a straw at the Dollar General that I use all the time and it doesn't spill.

Walmart, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Tupperware, etc...all have versions of this sort of cup.
