Well, according to Murphy's Law, I will probably get my period tomorrow since I am typing this tonight, LOL!

So here is a little brief history:
Dec 18 - Period came
Jan 6 - IUD removed (trying for baby #3!)
Jan 8 - 2 days of light bleeding
Jan 17- VERY light spotting, not even a full day
Feb 10-15-ish - Weaned my 1 yr old from breastfeeding
Feb 15 - Negative pregnancy test.

Still no period! I've been really crampy, bloated, slightly nauseous, MOODY......and having SOOO much clear discharge. I'm just wondering what advice or ideas you might have as to what's going on. I'ev always been VERY regular. And both of my previous pregnancies showed up positive early and easily. Any ieas? THANK YOU!!!

What can I do next?

It could be one of 4 different things going on.

1 - I nursed all three of my kids and with the 1st two, it took 6 months or more for me to get a regular period after I weaned them. Basically it took 21 months to screw up my hormonal system with pregnancy and nursing that your body needs a bit of time to get back on track. So it could just be that you quit nursing and your body is readjusting.

2 - IUDs are also hormonal and it is not unusual for it to take a bit of time for your body to get back on track after having them removed so irregular bleeding is expected.

3 - You will get your period today because you just typed this request. : )

4 - You are pregnant and it is not showing up on the test yet. My third baby did not follow a single rule that the other two did. My symptoms were different, I carried different, I felt different, and it took three tests to show I was pregnant.

So I say wait it out a bit, the answer will come.

Good luck!

It sounds like your hormones haven't rebalanced. Do you have a good naturopath or midwife with whom to talk? Most MDs don't try to re-balance the body. They just say, "You have 3 kids. Of course you are moody" and the smile.

After my 3rd, I was always exhausted. It wasn't until much later I found that I had problems with my adrenals - related to my not getting healthy after my 2nd pregnancy.

So, find a good naturopath; and maybe a Mom and Me yoga class too. That will help relax and help the body heal.

It seems that maybe you are ovulating. If your distarge is clear and stretchy. I sometimes get a little crampy when ovulating as well. Good luck

As someone who had an iud removed recently there is some cramping and spotting when you get it removed. If it was a cooper IUD that should not effect your hormones but if it was Mirena that could have messed up your cycle. Once you stopped breakfeeding the clear discharge could also be effects from your hormones returning to a more normal cycle. Cause you know things are drier when you are breastfeeding.

I say relax. Take it easy. Wait a week and test again. If it's still negative then it could just be all the recent changes have thrown your body cycle off track.

I was on the cooper IUD and had it removed on the first of July and was pregnant by the end of July. So anything is possible. Hoping that you get pregnant soon if that's what you want. :) Hope you get some answers soon about what's going on. :)

Your body went through so many changes in a short period of time, sounds like your body is trying to adjust back to normal. If you have lots of clear discharge its probably time to have lots of sex because you are most likely ovulating now for the first time (yay!) So have fun....

You don't say how regular you were with the IUD and breastfeeding (didn't know if the regular comment was before pregnancy or not). I didn't have a period while breastfeeding, and didn't have my first till about 2-3 weeks after weaning. I would do one of two things. If you are really worried, call your doctor's nurse and tell her your symptoms, she should be able to tell you if you need to come in or not. Or, relax. You want to get pregnant, and the stress won't help. You have had a lot of hormonal changes, and your body just needs to recover.

I would consider the Jan 8 bleeding and the spotting around the 17th as your period. January 8th would have been the 21st day of your cycle... so.. right on time!
If you normally have "clockwork" periods, then you would be due again around Feb 5th. You didn't really say how regular you are about that. Discontinuing breastfeeding can affect some of the hormones coursing through your body, so some of the cramps, bloating, moodiness or nausea could be related to that change in hormones. Clear discharge can be associated with ovulation, so perhaps you just ovulated? Your cycle might be changing slightly due to the change from breastfeeding. I know after I change my hormones (go off the pill) my periods are very erratic for awhile and my cycle is not a 28 day cycle... closer to 40 days.

Give it another few days and see if anything changes. Or call your doctor and ask if any of this could be associated with the removal of the IUD.

stress or a false pregnancy. removing the iud may have made you just have short cycles and your bodys trying to re regulate itself. Your going to hate it when you do get your first heavy one.

I think the IUD is your culprit! The bleeding afterward very normal, the light spotting on the 17th could have been your period. You didn't mention how long the IUD was in. Also you are breastfeeding and then weaned your baby, that could play havoc also with your cycle. Maybe try and relax, take some walks. Then perhaps your cycle will become regular again. If you don't have a period by March 13, then I would go to the doctor. I hope everything works out for you. I am not a doctor but I have had alot of experience with what you are talking about.

Since this happened right after you had the IUD removed, it could be a) making it harder for the pregnancy show up, or b) causing these symptoms some other way. (I get these symptoms periodically, but with no period, and I am on an IUD). Some people it can just take a few months for their system to get norml again.

You may want to talk to your doc and see if he feels you need to be checked, especially if this doesn't clear up in a month or two.

Let me know what happens - I am getting ready to have my IUD removed and I'd love to know what is normal to expect :)
