Latch on at 11:00 Central

My mom just told me about some sort of world-wide latch-on event occuring world wide today at 11:00 central where moms in over 18 countries are going to latch their babies on to breastfeed. last year over 3,000 mom's participated and 'registered' their latch I guess. Anyone else hear about this? Anyone else participate? I think this is sort of a silly thing (and I did BF for 12 months), but what do you gals think?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hmm. August 6th? Well my mom is at an event TODAY for it, so this must be another one. She was telling me about it and I told her that I remembered MONTHS ago someone mentioning something similar here on mamapedia. Must've been around August then.

Chocolate - I would HOPE there'd be chocolate. :) Mom did say that lots of vendors were set up with all of their breast-feeding materials and products.

"11:00 on the dot - okay NURSE!" I asked my mom the same question : What are the chances that all the babies are going to want to nurse at 11:00. She said she had no idea. (I talked to her at 10:20. It hadn't happened yet. I will post later how it went). Apparently San Antonio had the largest numbers with this event in the past years. But maybe that's b/c everyone else in the country did their BF awareness latch-on August 6th ..??

Never heard of it...but i get it...It is to show support and solidarity to breastfeeding moms.

I think doing something like that is kinda cool...Silly yes..but we have done sillier....

There is no point to this. It spreads awareness, how? People who are already breastfeeding, are the ones who do this.
