Hello!

Wondering if anyone has any ideas of vacation places for winter break. My husband was able to get some days off at the last minute and we would love to get away with the kids. Disney World would be packed, I'm thinking, so we'll skip that one. We are not to far from Kalahari in Ohio, but my son is just one inch too short for most of the rides:( Anyone have any ideas. My husband has 5 days off and we would love to get away as a family and have some fun!

Thanks

N.

there is a waterpark in Frankenmouth Mi., there is also one at Boyne Mountain so you could go to the water park for a day or two ond do the slopes for a day or two. Chicago has a lot of museums and things (lego store, American Doll store). Toronto Canada has the hockey hall of fame and Niagara Falls is beautiful in the winter with lots of touristy stuff to do. I also have done Disney in Feb and it wasn't too crowded, remember just because your school has that week off doesn't mean everyone does. Check out the travel sites they usually have last minute deals maybe one of them will appeal to you. good luck and safe travels.

Great wolf lodge www.greatwolf.com is awesome. They have in an indoor water park, the lodge itself is full of really fun activities, the rooms are set up to look like little log cabins the kids love it. Instead of Disney what about the Nickelodian hotel in Florida? it's really cool my kids loved it, the themed breakfast, the shows, etc. Plus your in Florida there is always something to do in florida. What about the Poconos, you can go skiing, most of the hotels have in-door water attractions, etc. Good luck and have fun

Hi N.. How nice to be able to get away with your family! I have heard that the Wisconsin Dells is a great deal of fun. Also, we were out to dinner with friends last night and they said they really enjoyed going to Minneapolis, there was a lot to do at the Mall of America (not just shopping). We have taken our kids to Chicago, they have a Lego Land there, it is a like a big children's museum for kids. You would want to plan other things because you only need 1 day for that but I am sure there are a lot of family things to do in Chicago. The aquaruium is really nice.
Hope this helps.
Have fun!

You might want to try Castaway Bay in Sandusky Ohio, right by Cedar Point, prices are reasonable and my kids LOVED it.

We went to Disney World during February Break and it wasn't packed. They have sooo many places to stay that you're pretty much guaranteed to get rooms at their resorts (since its last minute, you might not have your first choice for resort). It really is the best place for the whole family to enjoy everything without having to worry about height requirements for everything. Universal Studios Orlando is an amazing place to be for the whole family too! Plus Nickelodeon Studios is there, and EVERY kid wants to see that!

If you aren't only interested in warm destinations, skiing is a fun family vacation (even if you don't ski) you can learn! Snow tubing/skating etc. ALL FUN! I live in the Maine/North Conway NH area and all the resorts are loaded with fun things to do during the week for families (even children as young as 3 can learn to ski!). Resorts also have spas and a little pampering is a good thing!

Hope you guys have fun no matter where you go!
