Lasik Surgery

I am starting my initial research on Lasik Surgery. I would really like to get it since I am unable to wear contacts any more because of chronic dry eyes and Pingueculas on my eyes. I am just tired of wearing glasses all the time and feeling unattractive.

Anyway, I live in south Denton so I would really love to find a good reputable Lasik center in Denton or Lewisville but I would be willing to travel a little further for the right doctor. Can anyone recommend a good Doctor and maybe tell me a little about your experiences? Thank you.

What can I do next?

Dr. Boothe in Plano! He was great! The office has this procedure down pat. It is a little bit of an assembly line process, because they do so many, but then they are very good at what they do because they do so many.

You really want someone that's done ALOT of surgeries. A friend in California went with a surgeon that cost $500 less than her other choice and he damaged her eye and it took over 2 years to correct it. Bad things can happen.

I loved Dr. Boothe and my husband took very good care of my eyes during the weeks following. He made sure I put the required drops in at the right times etc.... which is very important. I have heard other offices don't require as much in the way of drops etc, but I can tell you I had no problems.

I highly recommend Key Whitman. They did my surgery several months ago and I walked out of the room able to see for the first time since I was 8. It was amazing. They have great doctors. You see an optomotrest (sp?) for most of your appointments, but they are great. I had a few problems with my left eye...took longer to heal and they were fabulous in the transition. Good luck!

Dr. Boothe in Plano did my lasik in 1999 and my vision has never been better! He is monotonous and serious but I wasn't trying to find a new friend, I wanted THE most qualified person to restore my vision... and he is the best! After my procedure, several of my friends went there for him to perform their lasik and had great results as well. My sister also went in 2005 and she said, "Dr. Boothe's personality is so dry like the Visine commercial guy, but I love him for giving me my eyesight back!"

Not sure about any in the Lewisville/Denton area but my husband had his done with the well known Dr Boothe in Plano...just want to say he had a terrible experience. Im sure there are hundreds with good stories but his was not. He said Dr Boothe was not personal or friendly, very rough and needless to say one of my husbands eyes was blurry and completely blood shot for a month after the surgery.

L.,

My husband had his eyes done five years ago this Feb. by Dr. Boothe and I know he would highly recommend him. My husband has the kind of personality that people warm up to quickly so he actually got Dr. Boothe to talk a little about himself personally if you can believe that. He told my husband that he is pretty much married to the job/business and had hoped his son would join the practice with him but his son, unlike his father, wanted a life. So that goes to prove that Dr. Boothe is dedicated to what he does. My husband was seeing better than ever within a few hours of his "surgery". It took 21 seconds to do one eye and 20 seconds to do the other. I remember the ride home back to Corinth after it was all done and my husband testing me to see who could read far away signs the fastest. He was more than thrilled with his improved eyesight. Not every doctor has a 100% approval rate but I'm sure the majority of Dr. Boothe's patients would say they were pleased with the outcome. Best wishes.

My husband and several of our friends have used Dr. Thomas Ballard in North Dallas. It is a little bit of a drive (Preston and LBJ) but all had excellent results with no complications. Their number is ###-###-####

Hi,

I live in Lewisville. I had Lasik surgery over 6 years ago. I went to Irving to Dr. Gary Tylock. I still have excellent vision. It's the best thing I've ever done. It was painless. The only discomfort I felt was if I had slept in my contacts. By the end of the first night, I could watch TV without my glasses. (I had terrible vision). I had several friends that went to Dr. Tylock as well and were pleased with their results.

Hope this helps.
