I also love my mac. I thought all I wanted to do was internet research, email and watch movies, but then I discovered the mac. Now I do a lot with my photos. Slideshows, Videos, etc.... I just find it easy to use. And if you are ever interested in an iphone......the combo is amazing.

We have had both.
LOVE the MAC much better.... way better, than PC's.

We're a techie family... have it all.

My 8yo has a macbook and loves and adores it (it's decent)... I have a MacBookPro (twice the cost) and will NOT part with it under any circumstance (hehehe, as in I love it just as much as my son loves his macbook).

We also have several PC's, a Linux, & an Alienware hand-me-down (from before dell bought them out... it's an 5yo computer that is still faster, better, and has more umph -memory, processing, etc.- then even the most tricked out of NEW PC).

I can use all of them... but I LOVE my mac.

I'm a mac-convert. They are NOT intuitive to me at ALL (where's the menu??? I need a drop menu!! Oh. Just drag it? Okay.))... but so totally worth it. Sturdy as all get out, as well. I took a tumble down the stairs and shattered the screen and it still works just fine (has for 6mo... I'll get the screen replaced after the holidays. June-Jan is just too expensive for my insurance copay since the durn thing works great even if there's a spiderweb of cracks in the glass I can see through them just fine). They are just so FAST. Open, done and ready to go. ((Waiting the 20-50 seconds for the PC's to load when you open them has me about ready to pull my hair out. Such a change from the 90's, eh?))

My son has a Dell that he uses for school, FB, loading You-Tube videos, etc. It is 2 years old and works just great....HOWEVER, he would love to have the MacBook Pro! My daughter has both a Mac desktop and laptop and swears she will never use a PC again - she loves it and finds it so easy to use. So I guess the next laptop we purchase will be the Mac - definitely pricey, but seems to be the way to go, at least for us.

<3 my MacBook Pro!

My friend, a former PC diehard, recently purchased a MacBook for her daughter. Although the initial cost is greater, she's tired of having to buy a new PC every 2 years because they just don't last. Also, iWorks software is so much cheaper than Office.

Good luck --

My husband is a computer consultant and always recommends Dells. Apparently, they have the best customer service out there if there are any problems.

We each have Dell laptops in our family. LOVE them.

Mine is about 4 yrs old Dell XPS M1210, never an issue, I have full coverage. Anytime I have an issue or question, I just call service and they walk me through it. It is loaded, even with a webcam preinstalled.

Daughter's is a Dell Latitude, it about 3 yrs old, she is 16. It works great for her personal use as well as her homework. She routinely watches movies on it, does homework research, presentations, etc. Due to how teens care for things sometimes, her hinges became loose. She too is covered 100%. I called Dell, they sent a rep to my house and he repaired her laptop on the spot. No issues since.

Hubby's is a newer model, don't remember the model, it is red, lightweight, his disc drive is separate which is not an issue for him. Again, he is also covered 100%. He had a key on the keyboard keep sticking, called Dell, the same rep came out and replaced his keyboard.

We love our Dells, the service has been superior.

We purchased mine and daughter's online through Dell. Hubby got his at Best Buy. We love Best Buy too.

Priving has dropped drastically since we bought ours. Mine was in the $3000 range, daughter's around $2500 and hubby's was less than $1000 all with loaded warranties, software, etc.
