I have started taking a Lactation supplement to boost milk supply. Contains Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle. Do these cause any side effects in the baby once they ingest the breastmilk?

Both are quite safe. If you're still needing more supplementation might I suggest Shatavari? It's an herb that has been used safely in India for over a thousand years. I've had much better luck with the Shatavari alone than I did with Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle combined. Best of luck!

I've heard those are great ways to boost milk production and totally harmless to the baby. You should also try taking 3 tablespoons of flax oil a day. I will make a tremendous difference in your supply. Will help with your babies brain development and burn fat for you. Try putting it in a protein shake each morning for breakfast.

No - they are safe. BUT, they make make you smell like a waffle after a while and too much fenugreek can flavor your milk.

Other than that, they are fine :)

Make sure you drink plenty of water and eat lots of healthy snacks as well!

The best way to boost your milk is to breastfeed A LOT - on demand and as much as possible. Ban the binky and the bottle - you want baby on booby as much as possible! That is the best way to ramp up your milk supply.

sorry I dont know but anything that you take does go into your milk so I am glad you are asking around. please do ask your obgyn, regular dr and babys dr too. honestly it worries me how little dr. know about nursing! I have been nursing for 15 mo and my dr. are never very helpful I usually call my LLL or my lactation consultant bc I can trust them the most. good luck.

As long as you are taking it as directed everything will be fine. I took More Milk Plus and it did wonders and my son is perfectly healthy. Hardly ever sick! You do need to increase your intake of water though. It helps with replenishing your supply. And yes it true, the longer you use it the more you notice you're starting to smell like waffles or french toast haha.

Consuming liquids are the best way to increase your breast milk. There are teas and cookies and one of them healthy nursing tea I was using that really helped improving my supply. Don't give up, hopefully your supply will get a boost.

They have been used for ages, and no known side effects that I have heard about. You do want to be drinking about 8 ounces of water an hour though, while you are breastfeeding. Always have a cup of water next to you when you have the baby on the breast...
Good luck!

I took both of these for at least two months while breastfeeding my son, and had no issues. I believe I even mentioned it to my pediatrician (I have no doctor), and he said that was fine. Those are herbs found in products like Mother's Milk Tea, and he suggested that to help with milk production.

If you take enough fenugreek, you will smell like maple syrup (for it to work, you should be taking that much). I actually took them as separate herbs, and I found that fenugreek had no real effect for me, but blessed thistle really helped (or maybe them together really helped).

No, at this age what the mother needs is usually what the baby needs, too. And contrary to what the other mom mentioned, fenugreek can actually REDUCE gas, so it should be helpful there, too....Best of luck.
