Can anyone recommend a local lactation consultant? My daughter is six months old and breastfeeds very well, but my milk supply is very low and getting lower all the time. I began having my period again when she was three months old which is when the difficulties began. I have tried resting, drinking mother's milk tea, drinking plenty of fluids, pumping after each feeding, and have not seen any change. Any ideas or advice?

What can I do next?

I wish you the best!! I went through the same thing. I HIGHLY recommend Angela at Cobb Hospital!!! She is wonderful. She really went above and beyond to help me. She actually trains other consultants and teaches certification classes. CALL HER!! ###-###-####. If you call and get the voice mail, leave a message and she will call you back. Make sure you are getting enough rest!! Hang in there and remember that the most important thing is that your baby is eating, whether it is from you or otherwise. Feel free to email me if you want!!

Most area hospitals have lactation consultants, just give them a call. I love the ladies at Wellstar Cobb Hospital. There is also a supplement you can buy at GNC (it's called Fenugreek, I think) that can increase your supply. Good Luck!

There are lots of things that may be going on, and as a IBCLC (Board Certified Lactation Consultant) without seeing you and baby, I am not going to guess.

However I will suggest you call and talk with a Lactation Consultant, there are solutions for most any issue, some are easier than others though.

Here is a good resource, I used to work here and the consultants will see you either in the office or at your home, all are experienced and Sharon has over 20 years as a IBCLC!
