So a few nights ago I started to lactate. Through all of this, it is the last thing I wanted to happen. I need it to stop. It is not enough to get me to engorge or "squirt out" but it is a small stream that goes. Please if anyone has any advice please let me know.

Dr. said today that it was because this pregnancy was so close to the last that my body just knew what to do.

This is one thing I begged to do with this child and I guess having this happen makes it a world harder to coupe with. Thanks mama's for dealing with my emotionalness through this! you are the best

ETA if i engorged... I know how to fix that. I just dont know how to make it stop completely.

What can I do next?

My sister took the sudafed type meds, that have been suggested. That did work. Also, NO stimulation of any kind. Wear a tight fitting bra, so that nothing moves or brushes. Avoid any contact there.

So sorry :(

Cabbage leaves, binding your breasts or wearing tight bra's are all supposed to help. Some women have had success with over the counter cold or allergy medications as well (sudafed type meds). It does take some time.

Good luck!

I'm sorry, mom. I know this is a hard time for this to happen to you.

When I was trying to wean, the nurses at the hospital told me to do this to dry up my milk. Sounds funny, but it's actually true. (Many women on this site have recommended the same thing, btw.)

Get a cabbage and take the big leaves, wash them and nick the big veins open a little. Place the cabbage leaves in your bra. When they get limp and wet, throw them away and put more leaves in your bra. There is a chemical reaction between your sweat, milk and the juice of the cabbage leaves that helps dry up your milk.

Don't drink too much fluid - that helps produce milk.

You'll get through this.

Hugs!

My girlfriend was prescribed something to dry her up. I'm not sure of the name of the drug, but check with your ob.

Cabbage leaves in your bra and sage (I think you can get it as a tea or supplement, and be heavy handed with it when you're cooking too!) will help.

I am so sorry for your loss....

I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.

If your doc won't prescribe you something , bind your breasts and take antihistamines.

They no longer recommend binding the breasts, it can result in plugged ducts. I'm sorry for your loss.
