La Petite & Funshine

I work in the Galleria area but live in Pecan Grove; when my son was born 3 1/2 years ago I put him in a daycare close to my office so that I could breastfeed at lunch but now since he will be starting school in a couple of years I wanted to move him closer to our home. I have visited La Petite (at Randalls - FM359)already and am thinking of visiting Funshine (Pitts Rd). Does anyone have any input on these? I have checked the website already for inspections but that does not compare to real experieces. Anything you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

Hi

My niece lives in Pecan Grove and I visited La Petite as well as Funshine when I was looking for a daycare for her (my brother is a single parent). She attended La Petite for three days and we were very unhappy with it. They called us everyday because she was crying (she was 14 months at the time). They did not provide the comfort she needed to adjust to the setting. The "teacher" in the room was very young, in my opinion. I also visited Funshine but was not particularly impressed. I don't know which route you take to get to work but if you take Highway 6 to 59, take a look at Primrose School (the one on Soldier Field). It is great. They were wonderful at helping my niece adjust to her new setting. They also have a great curriculum (my niece was able to read actual passage books by the time she completed Pre-K). Good Luck...I know its a hard decision.

Oops. Forgot to mention that there is a new daycare Kids R Kids (or something like) in Waterside which as you probably know is right next to Pecan Grove near Grand Parkway.

I do not have any feedback on either of these, sorry. But I can recommend another place that is wonderful. My children go to Stepping Stones on S. Wilcrest & 59 - it has been reviewed on this site many times (positively). You may want to also check it out.
