My daughters first Christmas she hadn't pooped in four days and was miserable. The year after that he daddy was stuck in Florida, and she ended up puking at my aunts house on Christmas Eve, for reasons unknown. Last year she had a stomach bug, then ended up with a sinus infection she got from my dad.

Today she wakes up and is congested, not too bad, but not good for getting on a plane tomorrow. Hoping it's just a bit of allergies, seeing as the congestion seems to have lessened through out the day. Now I just got a text from my mom (who's house we are staying at) that she is throwing up and running a fever.

Uggh....why oh why has our family been cursed at Christmas? Any body else feel like just at specific times everything goes wrong? It used to be my birthday, something would always go wrong. Well, the past couple years my birthday has been fine but Christmas has been a hassle. I really wished it would go back to being on my birthday....

What can I do next?

Yes, I feel this...

My oldest has had the flu Christmas morning and colds/fevers in years past.

My husband just came home from work early yesterday feeling awful. I sent him to the medexpress because Strep is being passed around like crazy around here. He doesn't have strep, or at least yet. Then as I was telling my FIL about husband being sick this morning (they help watch the girls) he tells me he was diagnosed last week with strep. Oh fun! But I'm hoping the girls and I stay healthy...ugh! Although my youngest has had some congestion for the past few days.

I have noticed patterns. Everytime we go on a roadtrip my daughter gets a fever. Not sure why, but she gets sick every time we travel. Our extended family is 6 hrs away and I dont think they've ever seen her when she didn't have a fever! No possible explanation, it just is.
I'm not sure why you are cursed at Christmas, but I like to believe you can turn it around. You'll find a way to excorcise your Christmas Demons. Maybe you could fool your curse by celebrating Christmas in January. That way you get all the after Christmas sales and it's cheaper to travel!

I used to have a Thanksgiving curse... I was sick 5 Thanksgivings in a row, which really sucks since it is my favorite holiday. The good news is that I have not been struck by the Thanksgiving curse for 3 years now, so there is always hope! I hope things go well for you this year.

I don't know but I'm feeling the same way. I slogged through Thanksgiving Day feeling like I was at death's door . . . now my younger son is sick right here before Christmas. Seems to happen almost every year - I think it's all the sugar.

Hope your little one feels better and that you all can travel.

When I was younger I would get sick every time we would go on vacation. This lasted for years! Ear infections, flu, sinus infections, you name it. I have been to the emergency room in most states I have visited. I hope your daughter is better soon!!!

Oh, surely not! It just feels that way! I think we all notice the problems much more when we think a time OUGHT to be problem-free.

But germs, viruses, accidents, family bickering, and you-name-it don't take holidays, doggone it. Almost my whole family is getting together for Christmas this year, except for a daughter who is flying several thousand miles - and her major-problem back is giving her fits. Meanwhile, grandchild #5 has met the cold virus for the first time. That's not terrible in itself (though uncomfortable for the baby), but if grandchild #4 (from another family) catches it, then she may be a danger to her other grandpa, who is extremely ill, and to whose house that family will be going the middle of next week. So it's, um, interesting. Sometimes, besides praying, you just have to laugh or cry at things, and it's frequently better to laugh if you can.

Several years ago, if I hadn't nicely waited until three days after Christmas to slip on a step in my own house, I would have spent Christmas day in the hospital with a broken ankle. Now THAT would have been interesting....
