K.H.
Same things happens to me when I have mcdonalds. You think I would have learned by now but I guess I need a reminder a couple times a year.
Hopefully it passes soon. (no pun intended)
I am a Kraft Dinner freak - just to get that out there. But I have noticed over the last few months that EVERYtime I eat some I feel like poop afterwards. I get crampy and my stomach gets upset (if you know what I mean). I am not lactose intolerant and the only thing that I add to mine when I make it is a kraft cheese slice for that extra bit of flavor but it cant be that either because I can handle the cheese slices no problem on their own. I am 21 weeks pregnant so maybe that has something to do with it but seriously for a girl that could set up shop in the KD factory this sucks.
Does anyone have a food item that they love this much and just cant seem to stomach anymore?

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I developed an intolerance to MSG. I couldn't eat ANYTHING containing MSG or I would get pretty ill. I never had that problem prior to getting pregnant with her, but now, the intolerance remains and she is 13 mos. *sigh* I just have to label watch now and avoid certain restaurants. :(
I have a problem with MSG. I always get a belly ache when I eat stuff with too much MSG in it. For me the worst are the packaged soups, they seem to have a lot of MSG. Maybe you can switch to a natural or organic version of Mac and Cheese for a while.
YES!! I loooooove basil pesto, I used to put it on EVERYTHING!! So when I was pregnant with my 3rd, I make a grilled turkey and provolone and spinach and basil pesto sandwich... and promptly threw up :( I tried again, making veggie pizza a few weeks later with basil pesto as the sauce... and puked. Now, I can barely stomach it, and it drives me insane because I still love the taste of it, but it doesn't agree with me!!
Now I want some, regardless of the ramifications!! ;)
Eggs. It was a sad, sad day when I had to stop eating eggs. I love eggs just about any way you make them, but they make me so sick now. The worst was when my aunt invited us over for homemade ice cream. It was so yummy! But, thirty minutes later I was curled in a ball on the sofa screaming, "What was in there?" Turns out SIX raw eggs for one batch of ice cream.
*sigh*
Those cheese slices aren't real cheese anyway. Ever notice it doesn't actually say "cheese slices" on the label. I remember reading about it not being considered cheese and that is why it's not on the label. Those slices aren't even aged. You might want to try deli cheese or those cheese bricks like Cracker Barrel or Cabot's.
I developed an allergy to peanuts after I had my oldest. It was a very sad day b/c I LOVE peanut butter, peanuts, peanut oil, thai food, reeses. If it had peanuts or peanut butter I ate it! :(
Lettuce.
It could just be related to the pregnancy. Maybe its a sign that the baby may have issues with lactose.
It could be the yellow dye that's making you sick. You can try alternatives like Nature's Path, Trader Joes or Annie's. Just as good in my opinion.
It's probably due to your pregnancy so hopefully it'll go away after he baby is born. There were lots of things I couldn't handle when I was preggo. Couldn't eat chocolate which made me really sad.
While I was pregnant I couldn't eat most green veggies without getting terribly painful GAS! (This included the usuals: broccoli, spinach, cucumber, etc, but also my beloved green chile!!) I also started having sensitivities to greasy foods (tacos were a big one). This past spring (my girl is almost 3 now) I was diagnosed with gallstones!! After some research I figured out that a lot of my "sensitivities" were probably gall issues, but I never put the pieces together because it "wasn't that bad." Until this spring when I planned a weekend away for hubby's birthday and ate a LOT of crappy food... almost ended up in the emergency room! I'm trying to avoid surgery, so I'm just being much more careful about what I eat. So far it's working...
I could not drink tea or coffee when I was pregnant. I also personally can't tolerate sugar substitutes like splenda.
BAby,
Same problem here both pregnancies. broccoli was the other. peanut butter made the baby do backflips, but other than that, no problem for ME. : ) (read that pure PB, not the skippy sugars and additive kind).
Check into getting a blood glucometer (I think that is what it is called). i fyou haven't already gone through the glucose test, consider getting the meter anyway (based on how you feel, I'm betting hands down you have gestational diabetes).
The test, I've read, is not good for your child (if you aren't supposed to eat sugar (read: carbs now!) during your pregnancy, AND carbs are making you feel like you've just slogged through mud (grumpy headache kind of feeling in your head and body), checking your numbers now would be a better more proactive thing to do for your baby.
There is so much more I could tell you - get out and exercise after EVERY meal if you feel this way. Even after snack a quick run or two up and down the stairs will help. STaying away from carbs altogether is not possible when you're pregnant - you're craving things you can't control (Unless you have an iron will - I had THE hardest time!)
And controlling the sugar now will help your baby's TEETH. I'm finding that with my second, my lack of control with the agave-laced coconut ice cream and Ben & Jerry's really didn't give my baby a good start on teething.
make snacks of finger foods like carrots, celery, anything that will go in a dip that is a veggie! Even eggplant (raw) is great with ranch dressing! And a little dressing is better than a cup (or pint!) of ice cream.
It does, totally and all-consumingly - SUCK - that you have this issue with carbs and that mac and cheese (which I could live on my MOm's for the rest of my life, laced with ham or bacon or ....) is such a quick delicious thing that so totally oversets your body's blood sugar balance.
***I am not a doctor. But I would if I were you - tell your doctor how you feel - and ask for the meter instead of the test. And if s/he is not willing to prescribe it - find one - because your doctor needs to be on board with YOUR and your BABY's needs. And if they aren't now - they won't be in the delivery room - and avoiding a c-section for a baby with small head and big shoulders (result of too much sugar in your diet, too) is tantamount to a much better recovery from birth.
The oh-so-much-I-have-learned-the-hard-way tells me to forward you these places to check out:
International cesarean awareness network
attachment parenting international
gestational diabetes
death to diabetes (a book about getting rid of diabetes)
my baby's rocking my world now, so I'm off to nurse!
Good luck,
