Pottery Bayou is a place in downtown Naperville. I've never been there, but know lots of people who have. Not sure about the cost...
I am looking for a place in the suburbs (and flexible on the location) to make a serving dish decorated by the kids for my mother-in-law. It needs to be fired though so it can actually be used to serve food instead of just to display. PLEASE HELP! If you know of such a place, and approximate cost if possible too, please let me know.
Thanks for the help in advance!

I have gone to the mad potter in Downers Grove which fires them. There is also a place in downtown naperville, not sure if it's a mad potter location or another name.. it's near the river walk.
Also there's the Plainfield Art Factory in Plainfield that does firing and I believe you can even make the pottery, but that's probably more than you wanted! They still have items to decorate.

The Plainfield Art Factory is in downtown Plainfield. It's a really cute place and kid friendly. They have pieces to be painted, and then they are fired. It takes a week to get them back though. I've taken my son there a few times to paint, we always have a good time. I think Thursday is family day where your painting sessions are half price or something, but they have a website where you can find out more... www.plainfieldartfactory.net
have fun,

Fired house in Warrenville on Batavia Ave ###-###-####. I have been there a few times. They are very flexable.
P.C. Pottery in Morris, Illinois. I don't know the phone number right now, but it does that I believe.
