Kitchen Booster Seat Is Too Low, What Should We Put Under It to Raise It?

We have afisher price booster seat that my 2 y/o son sits in at the kitchen table to eat. It isn't high enough and I can't figure out what to put under it to raise it. Phone books are too small in width so that the chair becomes lopsided. Towels don't work either. Any ideas out there? We also tried one of those chairs that has adjustable heights but it is still too low for our table. We have tried a number of seats but they are all too low including the fisher price adjustable heights seat. We don't want to put him back in a high chair.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'd like to thank all the mama's out there for all the great tips. We ended up buying the kaboost and it works pretty well. I was a bit worried that my son wouldn't stay in the chair since he would not be buckled in but he hasn't attempted to get out yet - fingers crossed! The only problem I have with it is you need to pick it up to pull him out. If you try sliding it, the chair legs come off. Again thanks for all the asnwers!

I'd try to raise the chair on a solid block of wood rather than raise the seat. That would be more stable.

i wouldn't try stacking random objects under the chair since it would be dangerous if the chair fell. we have a contraption called "kaboost"
it's awesome! it's a spring loaded plastic booster that goes under each of the chair legs. it also has 2 levels to get the best fit. google it--i think i got mine from qvc

I don't want to come across like a smart alec (or the other word that also fits), but you don't mention this... Have you tried a different chair for under the booster? Our boosters work much better on chairs other than our regular kitchen chairs...

Use two phone books. Turn them sideways so the spines are pressed together and it should be wide enough.

I don't know how old or heavy your son is... but you could try a booster seat that attatches to the table instead of one that sits on the chair. You can buy them at babies r us for not a lot of $$$.

Maybe you could purchase a barstool height chair to put the booster seat on. It seems like there are always some on Craigslist or at a place like Big Lots where you wouldn't have to spend too much. Good luck!

I'm not sure how "handy" you all are, how much space you have or what kind of chairs you have but keeping safety in mind you could build a riser and bolt the chair to the riser that way the booster seat will remain safe on the chair, the chair will be higher and the chair will be anchored down for safety.

Building a riser - http://www.ehow.com/how_###-###-####_build-platform.html there maybe easier way too. Remember it doesn’t need to be very big.

Good luck!

i would say its time for no booster, we took our daughter out early and she J. sat on her knees after a freinds kid wiggled and tip and was held to the chair and landed on their head, regular seats are safer, J. get a higher chair for him if anything or have him eat on a little table beside you

I believe it might be time for a newer seat that is bigger-since your child is big enough to sit n a booster seat "he/she" can wiggle out and if there is something underneath this child can fall out and land on the floor and GET HURT BADLY!!!!!! Kids don't sit still at any time and you are taking a big chance that he could get hurt-have you considered taking a high chair with a seat belt in it and moving it up to the table or best yet-go get a new seat that fits.
