Kindred Hospital of Mansfield - Not Patriotic

I just saw on CBS news how Kindred Hospital in Mansfield told an employee to take down the US flag, because it offended a supervisor from Africa. Can you believe that? Is this still the USA? My daughter also saw the news report and now is asking me why? I'm not really sure what to tell her. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

The reason I did bring this up RACHEL H. is because my daughter asked me to explain to her what she saw on the news. Initially I told her that I was going to look up more information before I gave her an answer. So, this does have something to do with MY BABY.

I was not bashing the woman and yes it did have something to do with the hospital, because it was taken down on Friday due to hospital policy about receiving complaints. As far as not believing the media, I knew that all sides were not given. That is exactly why I was asking for help to explain this to my child. I thought perhaps others had more insight than I or knew of more information than what I found.

Also, unless you want your child raised as a hermit, current event discussions are an important part of raising a well-rounded child. There are many more aspects to raising children than just parties and colds.

As the wife of a military veteran who is classified as 200%+ disabled this makes me furious! If this woman if offended by our flag she needs to GO BACK TO AFRICA and the person who demanded the flag be taken down can go with her. Although I am quite certain that whatever African country she is from is supported in some way by the United States, whether is be through government assistance or through American charities. This woman should be grateful that the United States is a generous, Christian nation who believes that all people have the God-given right to be free and have their needs met. Our military is protecting the freedom of other peoples and sacrificing their lives RIGHT NOW so this woman and others like her can have the same opportunities and the freedom to work and have their needs met as Americans do! Memorial Day is to remember the people before us who gave their lives for freedom (for all, not just Americans). I am not letting this rest and I ask the rest of you to do the same. Contact the hospital, state representatives, tv, whomever...This is unacceptable!

I suggest, S., that you tell your daughter that there are people in this world that are so selfish that all they can think about is their own feelings, their own wants, and their own desires. BUT, that is not God's way, he commands us to "love the Lord God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. We must fight those things that are wrong through our words and actions and most importantly through prayer. It is okay to be upset over injustice, after all Jesus, Himself, overturned the tables of the money changers in the temple.

This subject has upset and saddened me because people coming into the United States want the best of "life back home" plus the freedoms of the United States that their countries don't offer.

There is also a disabled vet in Plano who has been told by his Home Owners Association that he has to remove his US Marine Corps stickers from his car windows or his car will be towed from his townhome community at his expense. Good grief! This man was disabled while fighting for our freedoms!

I myself am getting tired of the minority who are offended by the basic moral standards and principles that this country was built on and fought for to keep. We can't pray in our schools, we can't support our troops, and we are losing the right to bear arms.

Tell your daughter not to lose her heart for and appreciation for her country, it's founders and it's history. Always remember that men and women in the armed forces are fighting (and some even giving their lives) for our freedom.
At the rate things are happening, it won't be long until no one will remember why the Pilgrims came to this country or why we had the Revolutionary War. As a parent, don't let her forget...teach your children.

God was once in this country in every way possible. If He is removed from our basic way of life, then He will remove His protection as well.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13

God bless you, your families and the United States of America.

While I myself am incredibly saddened by this, it is an opportunity to show your daughter that, while we do have freedoms, we do need to use them responsibly. The people who complained, while they had the right to, have basically taken advantage of that freedom. At least this is how I feel! Just because we have freedom to voice our opinions doesn't mean we should! I talked to my daughter, who also had questions, about the fact that both women had rights...though flying our flag on our own soil shouldn't be debatable!

Apparently several people, for whatever reason, complained about the flag not just the supervisor. I think it may have had to do with the flag's size. They're letting the woman put it back up though.
