Nook simple touch- LOVE it! I get all my books from the library, and it's super-fast, easy to do!
That's my question: Kindle or Nook (and which model)? What do you like most about yours?
Thanks
I bought a Nook color and ereader for $299..00 on QVC. Wasn't a great deal until they added $221.00 of apps and stuff. It was a special value so I bit. I intended to buy a kindle but this looked like a good starter for me and I can share with my daughter or husband.
Thanks so much again !
I now enjoy reading again....wow !

I have a Nook Color and love the thing. I don't leave home without it. It needs to be recharged often because I do read...a lot. The children's books are very pretty and in color which has been nice. It'll also play a ton of games from the downloadable app store and my daughter has enjoyed that. You can't lend all books. Only certain ones are lendable. That's a bummer. There's a ton of glare on the screen in sunlight, but I manage because I do read...a lot.
I have the Kindle touch and love it. I can finally read in the car on long trips. :)
I like that I can read in sunlight. Reading on my netbook gave me a headache from the glare, well if I could read at all. :(
Oh for reading in the dark I have a little clip light. The backlight is easy to give up for the ability to read in any light during the day. They even make covers that have the light built in.
I have the Nook Simple Touch (black and white, about 5 x 7 inches maybe). Very small and light weight, it is in my purse at all times. It is very fast to turn the pages and has different ways you can do it, it has been charged about 3 weeks ago and is still at 75% and I read on it daily, I like that I can walk into Barnes & Noble if I were to have a problem. It is super easy to browse and download books using the Nook and you can also do it from a computer. So far no complaints at all. I am an Amazon.com buyer and was planning to buy the Kindle but mother-in-law bought a Nook and you can loan books between Nooks (once per book for 14 days max). There are also tons of books that when you search and sort by price show at $0.00, so I first downloaded only free books. I set up "shelves" for me for various topics (biograhies, detectives, etc) as well as a shelf for my kids with children's novels. If you want to download magazines or cartoon books then you may need the Nook Color. I tried a free trial of Newsweek and of course only the articles download with a little picture here and there, but it is not laid out like the magazine is. Still very readable. Mine was $79 after I bought the $25 membership which gave me a $10 discount on the Nook plus 10% on everything else. I think they are so very similar it does not really matter which one you buy. Nooks can store pdf files as well, which may be handy of you have ebooks already you want to load.
I have a Nook Color that was a gift from my daughter last year...I love it!!! I must confess I didn't do too much research...and I wonder if it would be more cost effective to have a Kindle. I am limited to purchasing things through Barnes and Noble and I find that I could be buying paper back books more cheaply that I am buying Nook Books.
I do love the fact the my Nook has back lighting, so that I can read in the dark...very nice when my husband and I travel and I wake up HOURS before he does and need to be quiet but not bored!!!
I understand the new Nook is coming out with a much longer life battery...mine needs to be recharged every couple of days...but I play a lot of games on mine which I am sure takes more battery power than simply reading would do.
I have the original Nook and I absolutely love it!
I love my Kindle Fire. I only had it a month so lots to do. I have games, FB, cookbooks, books.
