Kindermusik Anyone?

My mother in law takes my 22 month old daughter and they both LOVE it! Also did music together at 15 months, that was great too. It's just a fun thing to do and a place to go and see other kids too.

I haevn't heard of teh program you speak of but I have taken my daughter to Music Together http://www.socosc.com/ Rhonda is great and we love the classes.

I attended one of the open houses and it was pretty fun. My daughter enjoyed playing with the instruments: morracas, wooden blocks, etc. I did find that it was a bit pricey for regular classes so I didn't enroll but it was fun.

I prefer LIttle Gym.. esp the ones in DAnvers and Woburn ( I know the owners!).. they are great there! I think KM is too expensive

I've really enjoyed the Music Together program done by Barbi Beyer. She is located in northern NK and has been running her program for years. With my 3rd child now in the program, my older 2 (ages 4 and 6) have been enjoying hearing all the music on the CD over again and singing along.

I never did it but a friend of mine did. They loved it and her son continues with music today--piano and guitar as a 12 year old.

yes, actually I teach it! I teach for a wonderful woman, Rose Lemay who has her own Kindermusik studio in Hampstead NH. I teach primarily the older kid classes but her email is ____@____.com and phone number is ###-###-####. I highly suggest contacting her to sign your daughter up. I have been bringing my 1 and 3 year old boys to classes since they were babies and they have loved it.

I'm not familiar with kindermusik, however I've taken my children to Music Together for several sessions. We love it. Music Together is wonderful! We started when my first child was 6 months, and now she and my 17 mo old son participate together. The Music Together website has a class locator, maybe there is one in your area. Do go to a sample class first. I've found that all though a program itself may be excellent, your experience will only be good if you like your instructor's style.

I havent, but I have heard great things about it, for any age, although I hear it is a bit pricey....

I see you already have alot of responses so I will try to keep it short. I think it depends on what you want for your child and where You think they are developementally. For some this can be a wonderful experience and for others it can be somewhat fustrating to. I have see and participated in both for both of my children who are different ages and at different stages developemenatlly. I did like Kindermusic for the concept of using music to help them with certain things like listening, being able to sit with a group , ect. However, it turned out to be a little fustrating also, because if your child is not one for sitting yet, and really likes music but in a more active way, I wouldn't really suggest it. My kids Love music, but they also love to play and jump around, and thats where we had problems. My two liked it the most when they got to play with the instruments( which wasn't to the end of class!), and run around with the other kids.
Basicly I would tell you to try it, most places have a free sit in session. It is a little on the expensive side I thought myself, but if it fits your child the go for it. But I wouldn't really force it on them. The little gyms are awesome, and I feel really help the kids with their motor skills as well as socialization! What kid doesn't want to tumble!? Remember, there are tons of options out there, so don't limit yourself to just one. Good Luck!

My kids participated in a kindermusik program through the Little Sprouts program in Methuen, they really enjoyed it and I think, got alot out of it! I would give it a try!

I have 2 girls in Kindermusik, and have for about 1 1/2 years. I've tried music together and gym classes. It depends what you want for your kids. I think Kindermusik is the best comprehensive program for making music part of your and your children's everyday life, as they have a very engaging home curriculuum, and the classes are all about how you can play with them about concepts of high and low notes, percussion, the noises things and animals make and how instruments imitate them, singing vs. other voices, My husband plays guitar and we wanted them to engage with music before lesson age around 5 or 6. If you just want something fun, it is fun, too, but it doesn't matter what that is as long as your girl enjoys it. I think the Music Together program is great for babies, but topped out our interest at about 18-20 months old while we're in Kindermusik and now almost 5. It runs till after age seven and has a Famuly Fun class that incorporates siblings. That is our current favorite.

Just to present an additional option. I like to enroll my child in music classes geared specifically to his/her developmental age group (rather than simply a 0-4 class). The HARTT School of Music (in West Hartford) is world renowned for their music classes and has a music program for children called First Steps in Music. Also, Dr. Feierabend, who started the program, just created a weekly TV show on weekend mornings on PBS called Lomax: The Hound of Music, which my kids love. Good luck!

We absolutely LOVE Kindermusik! I started with my son when he was 8 mos and continued it until recently when our class was cancelled at the last minute...we were very sad :O( We were taking it in Exeter & highly recommend it...so fun and a great opportunity for Moms and kids alike to interact with ech other.

We will definitely be taking another calss late winter or Spring (I am due with my 2nd in s few weeks so we need a little break.

My advice...TRY IT!!!!

I had a very unfavorable experience with Kindermusik. My then 2 year-old daughter attended. She was well-behaved, listened to directions, and overall greatly enjoyed herself. She was one of the few kids who actually followed the things being taught her - which you do not have high expectations of kids at that age. After one course, we decided to sign up again for a second course. Well, she was having an off-day one time, and when we arrived she just didn't feel like going in. She asked to sit out in the hallway and just look through the glass door. She wasn't disturbing anyone, and no one even noticed her being there. The next day, I got a message from Kindermusik basically kicking her out of the program and refunding the remainder of our tuition! I was outraged - isn't a child at that age allowed one day of feeling out of sorts and just watching????? I would NOT recommend the Kindermusik that we attended - in Newburyport at the Tannery (I don't know if they are still located there).

My daughter has been going to Music Together for a year and a half and loves it. We have a wonderful teacher and I think that makes a big difference. If you find a class in your area ask for a sample/demo class to see if you like the class/teacher and go from there. At first I was tentative, but I kept an open mind and it really has been a good experience. Good luck!

I'm not familiar with Kindermusik, but we have been doing Music Together with our daughter for since she was about 9 months old (she's now 13 mos) and she LOVES it! I think it is a great opportunity, especially if you don't have instruments or a lot of exposure to music and rhythm at home. The kids just love the sounds, finger games, etc. I'm a big supporter and endorser!

I do not have personal knowledge of Kindermusik, but I do know someone who thought so highly of it when she took her own children that she became an instructor herself. Hope this helps.
