Kindergardens (Public or Private) in the Glendale/ Peoria Area

I'm wondering if there is any good kindergardens that will allow my daughter at their school? In the public schools she's not allowed because she's 5 days off of the cut off date of Sept. 1st or she's not in the right district. I really feel she's ready to go but I'm fairly new to this area.

What can I do next?

Hi A.,

My son attends Sunrise Montessori, which has two campuses- one is in Glendale on 47th Ave. between Greenway and T-Bird, and the other is on Deer Valley Rd. just west of 83rd Ave. I really like the school, and it was recommended to me by a friend whose four brilliant children all started out there. Good luck!

In the Peoria school district, you just need to have your child early-tested. My daughter's bday was Sept 18th and we managed to get her in. You can also arrange a meeting with the Principal to show some of her work if she is good at writing or reading. Also, Happy Valley Charter School will take younger kids into Kindergarten but I believe they are already filled up for the year.

I live in Peoria (91st Ave & Deer Valley) and my daughter (turns 5 on Aug. 17th) will be attending Coyote Hills at 87th Ave & Lake Pleasant Parkway on August 13th. With that school if the child's 5th birthday is after Aug. 31st, they allow the child (at the parent's expense) take a test for admission. If they pass the test, they are allowed to start Kindergarten. Good Luck !

Sorry I don't know of any I just wanted to say stick to your guns. My mom went through the same issues with my sister, she was 4 days off. She wanted to put her in the local private school but they wouldn't accepts her. So she put her in a public school for a year and showed the private school the grades that she received while she was in the public school. They agreed that she was ready to be in the class and that putting her in a different group would hurt more then help. She ended up getting A's through college.
I have my 2 boys in Tutor Time although not in Kindergarten yet my 3 year old(4 this month) is excelling and they moved him to the next class early. If you can't get her into an actual school check out the Kindergarten program at some of the daycares. Tutor Time, Sunrise and La Petite Acadamey are some of the common daycare/kindergartens in the area.

I am an education consultant and assist people in finding schools. I recommend you speak with private Montessori schools which look at the particular child and not the age. They also have multi-age classrooms. You should choose one that has AMI accredidation. After 1 to 2 years, the public schools will accept your daughter, in most cases, granted she has passed in the private setting. Best wishes!

You can try any Charter Schools in your area. I was able to get my daughter tested, which is not stressful for the child, and she enetered at 4, two months before her 5th b-day.
Good Luck,
Aimee
