Any suggestion for snow boots that are easy to get on and off? This will be the first year my son will have to get himself ready at school when they go out so I need something he can pull on. I like BOGS because they have the handles but will they really keep his feet warm? We've had Land's End in the past but he usually had trouble and needed help so I don't think those will work this year......
Kids Bogs are rated for -30 degree weather. They're a little wide for some kids' feet, but I haven't found a boot that's more convenient.
My almost 4 year old has no problems putting on his lands end boots.
Last week, I bought one pair for each of my two boys at Stride-Rite Outlet at the Outlet Mall in Rosemont. It was "buy one get one 50% off", so the two (2) pair of easy-on/easy-off no-zip waterproof boots (they had red, blue, or black) totaled with tax, $73.72. The on-line price for the one pair of the same was $53, and the outlet in-store price for one was $44.99, so I think it was a good deal for easy pull-on boots. They put them on, themselves, and one is almost 4, and the other is 5. They also had them for girls, in "girl colors".
My kids have always had Sorel's. They just pull on and off.
BOGS hands down for warmth and ease of use.
We have tried, Landsend, Hunters with liners,Kamik & Ecco. Ecco no longer makes shoes for kids and Landsend is also a great boot but I still choose BOGS.
One Step Ahead makes great easy to put on boots! We love them and they have lasted 2-3 yrs as they have a grow w you feature. Pediped also makes great boots though they are a bit pricier. Perfect for toddlers and developing feet!
Try using a peice of newspaper or an old bread bag to cover the bottom (from the arch to to the ankle and up the heel) of your child's foot. Either one will help the foot slide into the boot.
If your boots spring a leak and your feet start to get wet you can also slide your foot into a bread bag, then into the boot. Keeps your feet dry while you shop for a new pair of boots.
My kids used to wear Lands End boots, but they were such a pain to get on. We switched to Bogs and have never looked back. Their feet are warm and lovely during the winter, which is cold and dry here - 20s - 40s during the day. I have always heard good things about Sorrel boots too, but have never tried.
my kids have Bogs and northface, both have been great and very warm....i got both types of boots for $20 a pair on bookoo.com (similar to craigslist)
While we do like bogs, and I do have a pair, for our cold Alaskan days I put my kids in Baffin or Sorrel. You can find easy step in styles for both at stores like Army Navy.
