Hi out there all you crafty and entertaining moms, the last two years we threw an adult Halloween party but this year I also want to do one for my kiddies. It will be for kids from the age of 8 to 13. I am just asking if any of you, which I know you do :), have ideas for food, games or even decorations. I got some great ideas online already, but some not too practical or too expensive. I would love any great ideas to make this Halloween party unforgettable for my kids. Thanks so much in advance.

What can I do next?

Thanks so much again for your great ideas. My kids had the best time at their Halloween party and they said the kids at school are still raving about it and hope we will have another one next year. I really do appreciate all the replies I got and will definitely be turning to you wonderful ladies again for more tips, ideas and advice. Thanks!!!!

Hi for my son's party I made rice crispy treats shaped them like snakes (used green food coloring) I put mini chocolate chips for the eyes and red licorice for the tongue. I also made dirt, chocolate pudding with crushed up Chocolate Chip cookies and gummy worms or you can make swamp goo green jello with worms in it. As one of the games I blew up a ton of balloons and put candy in them, they had to pop them with their bums (this was funny to watch)as a give away I used cooking gloves and placed 1 candy corn in each finger (the nail) and filled the rest with popcorn and tied the end with a twist tie. For the drink I made Dragon snot (just baby shower punch) sherbet and 7-up. Hope this helps some. Good luck.

We always have a pumpkin carving party and it's a blast! Everyone brings a pumpkin, and we go online and print up a bunch of awesome carving patterns. Just go to Google and type in pumpkin carving patterns, and you will be amazed at what you find. The kids would need to be responsible and must have adult supervision because you would have to use knives and sharp instruments, but in our experience, the kids LOVE this and it's awesome to light up all of your new jack-o=lanters at the end of the night and "ooh and aah" over them.

Even though we do not do Halloween I saw the cutest ideas on Martha Stewart show for an hour. It is still being rerun on cable tv and you can also go to her website. Things like a floating face and hands in the red punch, brains from vegetables in a bowl with eerie lighting along with a heart and frozen eyeballs for their drink glass. You see how to make fun foods and white chocolate ghosts on a stick, etc. Good Luck!

We are planning on a party for the kids too - look at Martha Stewart's website for some decoration ideas - I am cutting out bats, mice, owls and witches from black construction paper to hang up around the room. Have bought small pumpkins to decorate and large ones to cut-out. I made the Trick-or-Treat garland from the Martha Stewart website and put glitter on it - looks fantastic! Our games are going to be "pass-the-parcel" with the parcel stopping on everyone (and everyone getting some Halloween stickers in each layer) the main prize will be glow-in-the-dark bracelets for everyone; pin-the-tail-on-the-cat; monster-mash dance contest; monster throw - throwing balls into a bin decorated as a monster (with cardboard eyes). You could also have a "witch-hunt" - you hide little witch hats around the yard or house - all are black except two - whoever finds the different colored ones wins a prize. Party favors are going to be basic paper bags stamped with a skull (making stamp from a potato). You could ask your guests to bring a plate (that way you don't have to cater to everyone, limits your expense).
Hope this helps!

Do you have access to a flatbead trailer? You could do a hayride. You could do a candy hunt-just throw candy out into the yard and let the kids loose-they love that. Have a costume contest, sack races, hang an apple on a string and see who can take a bite out of it, hot potato only with a small pumpkin, Halloween freeze dance, pin the nose on the pumpkin

I LOVE the kitty litter cake! It always looks like it's so gross and so fun to watch people hesitantly take it. hahaha You should check out some of the pics online...unforgettable! :)

I don't know what your budget is, but I do Noah's Ark Animal Workshops, where your kids can hand-stuff a stuffable animal of their choice. We even have our new Teddy Bats! They are adorable! Please, feel free to check out my website for more information: www.EverAfterParties.com.

Oh, for the foods, I would check out MarthaStewart.com or HGTV.com for fun recipes. I've seen the "finger" foods made of crescents to look like fingers. So cute!

My kids went to one once and I remember they painted mini-pumpkins and ate all kinds of "gross" themed food which they liked. I can remember reading once something about putting peeled grapes in cooked spaghetti and finding as many "eyeballs," eyeballs being the grapes, as you could in a certain time limit.
