Hello Moms!! My husband and I are planning a vacation to Honolulu in November. I will be about 7 months pregnant and we have a 1 year old who will be about 20 months. I want some suggestions on a kid friendly hotel and some activities for toddlers. WE are so EXCITED to get away before the new baby and just relax before starting the crazy first year again.
Thank you all for the great advise you give everyday!!

What can I do next?

Hi,
We went to Maui when my daugther was almost 3. Even for the hotel swimming pool and great for the beaches is one of those suits that has a built in life jacket. The suit also covers part of their arms and legs so less risk of sun burn too.. We bought one at Target and I stumbled on a Speedo brand one at Marshall a few years ago.. check on line too.
Have a great trip,
Lenc

I took this same vacation many, many years ago. The main thing I learned was I should have planned ahead to find a close beach that was shallow and had small waves so my child was not overwhelmed by the waves. Also I needed to get enough rest. I saw on the last day was an offer to scuba diving with pregnant women. I wish I had done that.

Have fun and enjoy yourself.

I'm a HUGE fan of Jennifer Blinstrub @ Totem Travel, in Kirkland. http://www.totemtravel.com/

She got us about 3times the amount of things we thought we could afford (for under our budget...woohoo!) when we went to Hawaii...and everything went soooo smoothly. A lot of the things that we did were booked before we went, which was a big bonus, both in not scrambling once we were there, but also in being presented with all of these lists of activities. She sent them to us online (along with her top 20 or so hotel choices), so we got to peruse them in peace and then bring our lists in and thrash them out. No pressure or confusion.

I've been traveling overseas since I was 4 months old, and I have to say, that many of my BEST travel experiences are through this agency & Jennifer.

Even if you don't use them, they've got tons of info on their page (just click the Hawaii tab)...so it's worth checking out.

Good Luck, Have a Blast, & what a great idea to go before first year crazies!!!

Excerpt from their page on Oahu

Family Fun: In Hawaii, it’s evident that caring for keiki (children) is very important. On Oahu, there are a variety of exciting activities designed specifically with kids and families in mind. Take a submarine ride and witness sunken ships, airliners and reef structures. Ride the thrilling waterslides at Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park. Get up close and personal with dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays, sharks, and moray eels at Sea Life Park. Spend the day at the Honolulu Zoo or Waikiki Aquarium and see animal and marine life like you’ve never seen anywhere else. Or explore 4,000-acres of fun at Kualoa Ranch by horse, ATV, helicopter, jet ski or kayak.
There are also plenty of other educational and cultural excursions for kids and families year-round, including nature walks, hikes, wildlife feedings, fishing, catamaran sails and more. Many hotels and condominiums also offer programs for kids that include activities such as lei and kite making, lauhala weaving, and sandcastle building. This is one family vacation where boredom is never a problem!
