the day after christmas my family is going to my sister's for christmas...i need to bring chips and dip. there are going to be more kids than adults there so i'm looking for simple dip ideas that are more kid friendly. i am planning on a taco dip with chips and the regular store bought dips but i would like to take one or two more dips with us.

a fun fruit dip that kids and adults will both like is as simple as this:
soften one box of cream cheese, add one small container of coolwhip and the juice of one jar of merichino cherries!!
simple and yummy!!!

a cracker dip that my kids like is this:
one container of cottage cheese and add one package of dried ranch dressing mix. it is really good with ritz or waverly crackers, kids can just scoop it!!

that is all I can think of, hope they help!!

My kids love these dips....

Ranch Dip - 1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch dip mixed with 12oz container of sour cream. Serve with Plain chips or veggies

Cracker Dip - 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese mixed with about 2 cups of Light Hellmans Mayo. It has to be Hellmans otherwise it doesn't taste the same. You mix it until it has a cracker spread texture.(you might have to add more cheese or mayo) The longer you refrigerate it the better it tastes. So I will make it the night before and just keep it in the fridge until we need it the next day. Then serve with club crackers.

Have a Merry Christmas,
E.

Check out www.weelicious.com It's full of healthy kid friendly dishes. There is a dip called guacamol-wee and also an avacado herb dip so even your 15 month DD will benefit!

I'm on my lunch break, so I don't have time to read all the other dip ideas...so if these are repeats sorry!

Splash 'O Ranch
8oz sour cream OR 8oz cream cheese
8oz plain yogurt or 1 cup mayo
1oz ranch dressing mix (dry package)
Put all together and mix! I usually use cream cheese and yogurt, but the others are also options for this dip. Goes well with veggies.

Swimmin' in Peanut Butter
8oz cream cheese
1 cup creamy peanut butter
3-4 tablespoons milk
3-4 teaspoons honey
Mix cream cheese and peanut butter together... once blended add milk and honey. Goes well with apples, graham crackers, celery etc etc etc.

Both are really easy to make - in fact they are both out of the Better Hoes and Gardens "New Junior Cook Book" - kids recipes, so the kids can help!

Another (not as kid friendly making) recipe I like to make is a Chicken dip.
2-3 lbs chicken brest
2 pkgs taco seasoning
1 large onion, chopped
1 large can black olives, sliced/chopped
2-8oz pkgs shredded cheese
1 lg and 1 sm container of sour cream
Cut up the chicken into small bitsize pieces and fry. Add taco seasoning and water (per package directions). Cook until thickened. Pour chicken mix into a crockpot. Add onions, black olives and cheese. Cook until cheese is melted then add sour cream. Heat through (about 15 mins or so).
Serve with corn chips or use as taco filling!

Fruit dips are yummy & simple to make with cream cheese & fruit - dip apples or graham crackers. I've also made a fruit salsa with homemade chips: brush a little melted butter on flour tortillas and sprinkle with cinnamon & sugar, cut into triangles or I like to use cookie cutters for fun shapes, bake until crisp (not too long though). For the salsa I use blueberries, raspberries, strawberries & kiwi and a little lemon juice.

Hummus is healthy and yummy. Velveeta and chili or salsa is super easy. I did Velveeta with salsa and black beans last night and they scraped the bowl clean!
