There is absolutely no comparison. Great Wolf is 1000 times better -- yes, worth the extra drive. We love GWL. My kids are 9, 8, and 4. We have been to GWL two or 3 times, the rooms are fun, you can get a "condo" room with a separate bedroom for the kids w/ bunk beds and stuff, they have "bedtime stories" in the main lobby at night under the big wolf clock, the water park is only for hotel guests, good for all ages. Depending on your kids' ages you may also be interested in the Magic Quest which is immediately adjacent (there is a Magic Quest inside the Yorktown mall too). The Magic Quest replaced something called Wiley woods which my kids loved (and I loved because WW was free, but MQ is not -- you need to buy a magic wand and playtime.) Keylime cove is just a big dissapointment. I think it would be fine for about 3 hours. My kids were really like "is this it? All of it?" We went about a year and a half ago and my oldest, then 8, was pretty much too old for Key lime cove. It is small, seems tired, and the hotel rooms were lame. We were glad we were only staying for one night and couldn't get home fast enough! Plus, GWL is in the Dells, so you can get out, walk along main street, take a Duck tour, see Tommy Bahama, or just stay at GWL the whole time, whereas at KLC you have to stay because there's no where else to go. Good luck!!
